In Resident Evil 4, special agent Leon S. Kennedy is sent on a mission to rescue the U.S. President’s daughter who has been kidnapped. Finding his way to a rural village in Europe, he faces new threats that are a departure from the traditional lumbering zombie enemies of the earlier instalments in the series. Leon battles horrific new creatures infested by a new threat called Las Plagas and faces off against an aggressive group of enemies including mind-controlled villagers that are tied to Los Illuminados, the mysterious cult which is behind the abduction.

Resident Evil 4 has been released on just about every platform available after its original Gamecube release. The PS2 version ended up getting some extra content while receiving slightly worse graphics, ever since then every other version has basically been the graphics of the Gamecube with the extra modes of the PS2 version. The game itself is an excellent third person action title that influenced many future games, it also managed to perfectly capture the feel of the Resident Evil series, feeling like a amusing action B movie, complete with a so bad he's good protagonist, but still having occasional elements of horror and tense moments of a survival game. All this being done while giving you a much more manageable viewpoint, some fitting and entertaining melee attacks, and a much improved inventory system. Fun protagonists and villains, enjoyable weapons and enemies that react to being shot, equipment that offered upgrades and attachments, and many of the best moments in the Resident Evil series. My only complaint with the title was that it felt like it lost some of the horror and survival elements in the middle section of the game and never really capturing the feeling of being surrounded and hunted while fighting for your life with limited resources that happen twice in the early sections of the game.
This is one of my favorite games of all time. Guns are amazing and combat is meaty. The enemy variety is strong and the levels are well designed. Bosses are amazing and larger than life and the set pieces are the best around. It holds up really well. I highly recommend it.
