As a big fan of the RCT series, RCT3 which heralded 3D environments and the ability to ride the rides you create is the pinnacle of the series to date. There is just insane amounts to do. So much ride customisation, scenery and buildings, various items and editors - you can build pretty much anything, and by the time you have discovered some user-created custom-scenery mods (which are devilishly simple to install) you can make literally anything. Whether you want to challenge yourself at the scenario mode (some of which are really tough), create something unique, or create death-inducing rides in which to kill all the peeps in your park in glorious 3D - this game does it all. It's been around a decade now, and yet I still can't think of any other entertainment medium or product that has ever offered me better value for money in terms of time spent and enjoyment had.
In this Rollercoaster Tycoon sequel, everything gets bigger and it's in full 3D. Is it better though? A big component of Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 is being able to "ride" your rides now. That being having a POV look at what the riders of the coasters experience when they are on it. It is a great feature for the game. But besides that, 3 doesn't really add anything. Yes, the game is in full 3D now, but I preferred the older look of the original and 2. If you haven't played a Rollercoaster Tycoon game yet (which would be hard to believe), then 3 might be your best bet. The game is so easy to get into, and some of the most fun you will find in a simulation game. Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 is good fun.
