"Its combat and story are its highlights, with the voice acting and online implementation mostly hitting the mark as well." - [Hardcoregamer]
"If you haven't played a game in the series since the SNES however, Boston Lockdown is a decent starting point, and a perfect way to re-acclimate yourself to the genre with friends." - [Destructoid]

Steam OS und Linux:
A wonderful experience; this game lets you be a shadowrunner with your friends and explore the streets of Boston during a rather frightening nanomachines outbreak. Solid x-com like tactics mixed with a variety of abilities and strategies make it a fun must-play for any tactics fans. The game isn't perfect though. Though the addition of a rotatable camera is nice, there are still some targeting issues in regards to AoE and playing with very experienced players can make it difficult for newer players to get the feel of the game. Especially since it allows players of any skill level to party up. It's less of an issue since the game is co-op but it does remove the challenge. On the other side of the coin, while the main game is very much completable with henchmen, the end game content is impossible to do without other high level players. And its not always possible to find someone who wants to play those things with you. Much less three others. I also have a few nitpicks in regards to what damage types can and cannot affect as well as the degree of simplifying the karma spending system got. Being able to eventually max everything out just makes things a bit less fun overall since it removes a lot of core strategy. But there's still a lot of stragegy in what you bring and how you interact with your teammates. So not a complete loss. Still, it would have been nice to be able to to customize things more metculously like in the single player games. Especially in regards to magic so people can run builds that are not just "nuke everything." These balance issues and nitpicks aside I can still reccomend this game. It's a blast to actually do stuff with friends and when you're on the harder missions and manage to complete them through careful strategy and teamwork (provided your team communicates) is extremely rewarding. Certainly not the best of the series, but absolutely worth it for a group of friends who want a cyberpunk strategy fix.
Anticipated this game for long time, as one of original backers. Once the game was ready to play, I quickly realized 3 things. The content, directly linked to Shadowrun 5ed timeline and events in the setting, good plot and story comparable to Shadowrun:Returns, and tons of in-universe references, expanding the knowledge of Shadowrun universe even to those who are not familiar with PnP game would made this game 9/10 for me. Technologicaly, well, it isnt exactly AAA title, but once you get used to it, the design is clear and usefulll and supports immersion. It has some downs, like AI resets in coop-game, that makes you to be carefull once you want to use some tactical items or attacks, well it aint gamebreaking any you quickly learn to watch for that. Also chat may have a few more options for ingame communication with friends etc. I`d say 7/10 Fun. Not that only NPCs, oponents etc has sometimes nice sense of humour, but fun with the community, as this is basicaly 4players coop tactical game, that takes you from dirty back alleys to SOTA research facilities and corporate headquaters, the community is what makes this game amazing. You never run alone, Id say, and every team configuration has its own approach you may play the same map for 20 times and it is somehow different each time. depending on the fact you have mage/summoner, rigger/decker on scene or just armored squad. Missions are difficult if you play those for the first time, with equaly developed characters, ane even when you play with vets the victory isnt 100% granted. Fun and playability, this makes this game 10/10. Final result in average
Shadowrun Chronicles is the great come back of the famous franchise. The setting is quite original. You like Deus Ex? You like Fantasy stuff with dwarves, orcs, elves etc? Well, Shadowrun offers both. It's a RPG set in a universe where magical creatures and cyberpunk are mixed together. However, Boston Lockdown is a MMORPG so it's focused on multiplayer. But that's not all of it. The game is all about raids. The story is pretty cool and the universe is really immersive. However, the game lacks content such as PvP or more customisation. It's a good start but I was expecting something more.
Shadowrun Dragonfall Director's Cut was one of my favorite RPGs of all time. I loved that game. This is not nearly on that level, but very few games are. Judged on its own , it is still a fun and solid game.
I have had a ton of fun with this game. I enjoyed both Shadowrun Returns and SRR:DF, but I am also a compulsive cheater in SP games so enjoy MP games where I can’t cheat. There are plenty of groups to join, but they tend to want to rush through content so for the campaign I use the runners the game provides and I can control in missions. There are groups that take their time though who are like minded. This has the same fundamental gameplay as SSR, but has skill branches instead of stats, with no cap in skill points so you can benefit from some of the passives in trees that aren’t active (for instance, you have two weapon slots, so if you use shotguns and a deck you could benefit from some extra HP blunt weapon branch gives as a passive). This game has plenty of armor variety. It has a lot of implants but usually only a choice between two kinds of implants that give drastically different benefits for each of the four implant slots. There are 9 different “class” branches, and they all are distinct and play very differently. There are usually a choice between two different weapons for each class but I go for the highest damage one, whereas the other choice may have more accuracy or range or crit or something. If you are a Shadowrun fan or a fan of squad TBS games such as Xcom, or JA, I highly recommend this game.
