Great game so far, barring the poor AI at higher difficulties, and some interface bugs. Civ V is still the better game overall right now after it's two expansions and extensive patching, but Civ VI could easilty surpass the previous game's quality with some tweaks and refinements!
Years ago I tried Civilization V. I discovered it was buggy. What I did play was really fun though. So my brother bought me Civilization III, which was really really fun. Then I saw that Civilization IV was on sale so I bought the main game with all of the expansions. I am currently enjoying the happily ever after. This is one of the most addictive games I have ever played.
Civ 4 is a great game which offers a ton of content and replayability to any grand-strategy fan. It's an older game, and some like it better than Civ 5, but I think the newest version of Civ is more entertaining because of its combat and options for victory. Nonetheless, you can have a ton of fun with Civ 4 -- I would recommend picking up the expansions, though, as they add a lot to the game, both in terms of civilizations to play with and game mechanics. This is the "Mac" version, but since it redeems on Steam, it gives you both the PC and Mac versions, so if you're a PC owner, you're safe buying this. I highly recommend the game, but look into Civ 5 first and see if you like it better.
