Very addictive game.

A lot of people know that Civilization 5 is quite different from Civilization 4, which was the previous entry in this well known series of strategy games. The base game for this game Civilization 5 is actually not that good and I would probably not really recommend it. In fact, I think that the base Civilization 5 game is quite a bit worse than previous entry in the series Civilization 4 in its complete form. However, the downloadable content for this game make this a whole lot better, adding a lot of content and new features. Fortunately, this Game of the Year Edition adds that content and makes this game worth purchasing. Aside from the content, I think almost everything about this game is excellent, as it has very high production values across the board. The graphics might be a little cartoony, but I think they're more on the realistic side. The animations are quite well done too, for the individual units and such. The sounds are excellent as well. The music fit each time period well, and the sound effects have a certain oomph to them. Finally, the interface is intuitive and easy to use, so new players should have no problem learning the game from the very beginning. So yeah that's my review and I hope you try the game out, as it is probably one of my favorite strategy games ever.

Amazing game!

I am familiar with a Civilization series since the very first game, and this is the game you want to play again and again. There are many scenarios and user-generated maps. You are given a choice of the nation, the terrain, difficulty, and free to build and develop your new empire from the ancient times to the near future. It seems that every time the same thing, but it does not get tired easily and take a lot of time, especially if you play with someone!

It's a challenge and it takes a while

Fun strategy game, AI is challenging and can play with other players, however games can last for a very long time depending on how experienced you are. So be sure that you have the time, the last game I played went on for 4 hours. So yeah its long.

The last true Civ game!

I'm a Linux user and Civilization 6 is not yet available for Linux users, so Civ 5 remains as the latest and best Civilization game for me. The level of depth and complexity in this game will make you spend several hours playing a single game. If you're going to spend lots of time playing video games, play this game and throw all your other games away!

Best Strategy Game of It's Time

Put simply, this game is easily one of the best turn based strategy games of it's time. A variety of different starting civilizations with different advantages creates a game with very good replayability. It's a very intuitive game, reminiscent of a much more sophisticated version of the classic RISK - several competing civilizations fighting for domination. Great game, whether you're playing solo or if you have friends to do online or ''pass n' play'' with.
