Game description

Space Hulk - Deathwing is a First-Person Shooter experience based on Games Workshop's classic Space Hulk boardgame set in the universe of Warhammer 40,000. Space Hulk: Deathwing was developed on Unreal Engine 4, and offers you and up to three of your friends the chance to experience a desperate battle against Genestealers in the claustrophobic tunnels of a Space Hulk. You also gain skills, new abilities, and new equipment as you earn experience during missions.

Space Hulks drift along the currents of the Warp, the immaterial dimension of Chaos. Made up of gigantic, mangled asteroids, ship wrecks, and other stellar debris, they can grow to the size of a moon, and often contain treasured and ancient lost technologies. They are often also infested with broods of the lethal Genestealer.

In the game you take on the role of a Space Marine from one of the most secret and most feared Space Marine forces: the Deathwing of the Dark Angels Chapter.

As a Librarian, you can also master the destructive powers of the Psykers. Your skills and performance in battle grant you Fervor Points to spend on 3 skill trees, allowing you to improve your abilities and unlock new powers.

Don your Terminator armour and arm yourself with the iconic weaponry of the Space Marines and face the threats that await you in the Space Hulk.

Key Features:

  • Take on the role of a Space Marine Terminator from the most secret and feared Deathwing.
  • Plunge into the claustrophobic tunnels of a Space Hulk. and experience a desperate battle against the Genestealers.
  • Unlock new abilities through 3 skill trees.
  • Customize your armor and access devastating weapons.
  • Coop mode: play with your friends as a Terminator squad in an epic coop mode

In our opinion Warhammer 40,000 and the first person shooter genre go together like Space Marines and, well, space! They are made for each other and this is one of the many reasons why we are excited about Space Hulk: Deathwing.

Space hulk is a tactical FPS based on the popular tabletop game of the same name. You are a ‘Librarian’, who is teamed with a squad of the ‘Deathwing’ who are the elite first company of the Dark Angels Space Marine chapter. You are tasked with exploring Space Hulks which are derelict space stations and space ships mashed together with asteroids and all sorts of space debris. Whilst exploring these leviathans you will be fighting against the Genestealers, an alien race comprising of genetically engineered lifeforms.
We cannot wait to don the iconic Warhammer 40k Space Marine armour and see what Space Hulk: Deathwing has to offer.

Reviews for Space Hulk - Deathwing

Great game. Not the greatest Story although it is still very enjoyable with friends

However I was let down by many other aspects of the game. The interface was clunky and unappealing and felt like something you'd expect from a game 10 years ago. The gameplay lacked variety and ended up being very bored within the first few levels, it felt like I had seen everything the game had to offer. The way the terminators handle was also a let down. They felt floaty and they didn't capture the lack of manuverability and resulting tension you'd expect from a Space Hulk game.

Another Unfinished Game Release

The game has myriad issues, including a tendency to simply crash on loading. Perhaps the game will be worth $40 at some point in the future after the development studio actually finishes it. Until then it is not worth half that price.

Space Fun

This game surprised me, and despite my short burst with it, it's quite fun. It's a diamond in the rough. Overall, I can say that it is a very solid game.

Quick Review

Ok lets begin, while yes the game does have performance issues, the latest nvidia update seemed to have helped a little, when before i used to dip down to as low as 30 fps in huge hordes, now it roughly stays at 40, while normal gameplay keeps me at 60fps on maximum (still shouldnt have dips like that with my rig, but still playable) RIG fro reference: i7 4790K @ 4ghz, 16gb RAM, gtx 980Ti while the performance is a big minus, the game itself is fun, I am a huge 40k fan, and was itching for a game like this, sadly space marine was a let down and vermintide was the fantasy warhammer which i usually let slide. But This game does capture the feeling that all warhammer games should, the enviroment is huge and yet claustrophobic, it captures this dark somber Gothic style 40k is known for. the textures are alright for what it is, but the enviroment themselves just tell most of the story, these hulking space marines which are brutes in their terminator armour. slowly walk in this desolate and forsaken place, taken over by the tyranids (gene-stealers). They are fast and agile, while you, (this beast of a character) lack the speed, but more then make up in brute force. which does feel to lore for the most part. the sound is another plus in my book, the voice acting is ok for what it is. set in the 40k universe, i cant see much emotion as its a dark and forsaken era. but they deliver their lines as you would expect. the guns sound amazing, really 'meaty' especially the 'redemption'. eventho they do feel somewhat weak at times, the sound that echoes through the halls when you fire it, makes more then up for it. while i havent unlocked all weapons so far, it does feel somewhat limited, but i understand where it comes from. TL;DR The game has some issues, but me as a fan am liking the game quite alot, while it does have a somewhat slow pase at times, the shooting and killing xenoes never gets to old, mashing them with a mace and watch them explode is tons of fun too. the game captures the feeling of this gothic era at war, and eventho you have a squad it can feel lonely at times. but this is definitely a game i would recommend, maybe not for full price, but maybe after a patch or so when the game is fully working as intended you might want to pick it up. for those who have it, have fun and make the emperor proud!
