Game description

"This sublime platformer provides tons of challenge, precise controls, and incredible level design that will keep you glued to the screen." - GameSpot.com

"Super Meat Boy is one of the best modern platformers. It's infuriating, exasperating, and arduous, but it's also delightful, thrilling, and hilarious." - IGN.com

Super Meat Boy is a tough as nails platformer where you play as an animated cube of meat who's trying to save his girlfriend (who happens to be made of bandages) from an evil fetus in a jar wearing a tux.

Our meaty hero will leap from walls, over seas of buzz saws, through crumbling caves and pools of old needles. Sacrificing his own well being to save his damsel in distress. Super Meat Boy brings the old school difficulty of classic NES titles like Mega Man 2, Ghost and Goblins and Super Mario Bros. 2 (The Japanese one) and stream lines them down to the essential no BS straight forward twitch reflex platforming.

Ramping up in difficulty from hard to soul crushing SMB will drag Meat boy though haunted hospitals, salt factories and even hell itself. And if 300+ single player levels weren't enough SMB also throws in epic boss fights, a level editor and tons of unlock able secrets, warp zones and hidden characters.

Key Features:

  • Story mode, featuring over 300 levels spanning 5+ chapters

  • Play as a Head Crab! (Steam Exclusive)

  • 33 legitimate Achievements

  • Warp zones that will warp you into other games

  • Over 16 unlockable able and playable characters from popular indie titles such as, Minecraft, Bit.Trip, VVVVVV and Machinarium

  • Epic Boss fights

  • Full Level Editor and Level Portal (January 2011)

  • A story so moving you will cry yourself to sleep for the rest of your life

Good and different platformer

Super Meat Boy is challenging but very enjoyable. The graphics and music are well done, and the level design is quite good. You will fail a lot, though, so be prepared for that. The game has a lot of charm and style, and a very unique and nice sense of humor. I recommend this even if you're not a big fan of platformers, because I'm not and I enjoyed this. It's just a shame you can't share your levels anymore.

Recommended

I bought this game for the "kids" to play. Now it's an all out war over who gets the controller. Gameplay feels just about perfect. I'm surprised at how fun I found this game as I usually like the big blockbuster type games. Thanks for turning me on to the world of indie games, and the hours of yelling at my screen. Highly recommend giving this one a try.

Bizarrely cute

If you're thinking, why you should pay for a game, that exists as a free flash game, well the fact that here you can save your progress is enough in itself for such a hard game, but it comes with tons of extras as well. The game is hard, yes, so insanely hard, that if you actually can complete it a 100 percent, you are a ninja. Not the kind, that can catch an arrow, but the kind, that can finish ninja gaiden on the NES, which is harder! Also, this version has guest characters, all of which are pretty cute, and fun to play with, plus the animation at the end of every level is just....look, search it on youtube, the way all your attempts start at the same time are spectacular, especially if you screwed up a lot.

Best indie game I've played

It is the hardest and most annoying game I've played, but that's exactly what makes it so good. You gotta learn how to move in order to finish this game at 100%. It is just so well made and executed. If you like indies and puzzles, you MUST pick this game up. You will not be disappointed.

Hard platformer for those that want to prove their skills

This game is one of the hardest platformers out there, it's super challenging but very fun (Make sure you have a controller though). No performance drops that i've experienced which is very important for a game like this. The art style is great, very polished controls/gameplay. If you want a difficult platformer this is definitely the one to get!
