Tactical Soccer The New Season is a turn-based soccer simulation.
Control all 11 players at the same time - instead of shouting at your left back to ‘get forward’ you control them and can build up an attack exactly how you want. You are the coach and have real control of the team.
The gameplay is simple. When it's your turn, select a player and decide where they should move; or perhaps prepare them to head the ball. If they have the ball, you can pass, shoot or dribble. Once you've instructed your players, press ‘end turn’ and watch them carry out your orders. The computer controlled team then plays. Play continues like this until the match ends.
The game is played on a 3D pitch (not a tiled board), so you can move the camera to line up that perfect pass or watch as your speedy winger manages to just out run the opposition's tiring defender.
Players have different abilities - speed, dribbling, tackling, passing, shooting, stamina etc. Use your tactical skills to maximise the strengths of your players to defeat the opposition. When defending, you have to be positionally aware and block the opposition's runs with your players.

Back in 2002 I released Tactical Soccer on the Internet. Jump a decade or more and I thought it would be nice to update Tactical Soccer for the current generation of PCs hence the title Tactical Soccer - The New Season. So I got together with an artist friend and this is the result. It's virtually a total overhaul of the game plus I've been able to add in several features to the game to make it easier and quicker for the player to get the team to carry out their tactics.
Good: Turn based. ive always liked turn based. Graphics arent too bad Its pretty simple to play Bad: In spite of having options like headers, etc. I still haven't found a use for them. This is basically a run dribble run shoot kinda game - and shooting is if you get lucky. Takes a long time to play. If i was playing a season, i'd be dead before i ever finished. Player models are wonky and out dated After a bit, the game play is kind of limited...you find yourself doing the same thing over and over again...
On the field of Soccer (or Football, however you want to call it) games the competition is hash. You have big AAA francises developed by years - it would be impossible for a small indie team to compete with gameplay of FIFA/PES or strategic depth of Football Manager. So how can you succeed in such an enviroment? By coming up with something absolutely new and original! And that's exactly what Tactical Soccer The New Season devs did. Instead of playing fast skill-based matches they broke the football match into turns. They gave you a great strategic tools to plan ahead each move of every player on the field. The tools themselves are very impressive - you can basically "program" players reaction to different situations you think may occur. I've never seen it done before in any other game - so that's a big plus for TSTNS. But at top of that - it's not only innovative - it's actually very good. Ofc it's an indie game - so don't expect great graphics (actually the game itself looks quite dated), licensed players and teams, motion-capture animations etc. But if actual depth of football match is what you're looking for instead of shiny graphics and your favoritue players - give this game a try! Who knows - maybe you'll find your new favoritue football game this way?
