First of all, this game is called The Dark Stone from Mebara, not "The Dark Stone OF Mebara", I thought that's maybe a sequel or something but no :) So, it's a RPG Maker game. Yes, another one. Surprised that it looks not like your normal RPG Maker game? Well, I'm not, since there is DLC for it with graphics like that... but well, not like it does matter, what's important is how the game is. I like games where story is inspired by H.P. Lovecraft. I also like the music from this game. Like in many games maked in RPG Maker, you need to lick every corner but this time not to find some bonuses or treasures but to move along with story - that's the way detective stuff works. If you won't you will not make much progress, also the fights are little bit to difficult. But overall, it's a decent RPG Maker game, so if you don't mind that - try it.
The Dark Stone of Mebara is an adventure / role playing game grounded on the great Howard Phillips Lovecraft’s universe. I have to say that, in spite of the limits of every indie production, I really loved this game for its atmosphere and for its plot, set in a noir Massachusetts in 1924. I really appreciated the role playing approach, very well finished and accurate in the management of the three characters you have to guide. Plus, the graphic aspect is unexpected well done, elegant and pleasant. The towns you have to visit and the creatures you have to fight through your research of a powerful and strange black rock are designed with style and sometimes really scare you, also because you have to think smart and do the right choices in order to beat your even more powerful foes. In closing, I really think that The Dark Stone of Mebara is an unexpected surprise, also considering its excellent ratio between quality and price. Especially if you love Howard Phillips Lovecraft, buy it!
