The Smoothest Elder Scrolls

It doesn't have the best world, it doesn't have the best systems, the story isn't the best. But it's probably the best the Elder Scrolls has been simply because it's a game that's easy to play, easy to get into, and easy to spend hours, months, years of your life exploring. Morrowind's world is better, Oblivion's quest design is better, and Daggerfall's world is much bigger and allows you much more scope for roleplay, but there's nothing quite like Skyrim. The moment when you emerge from a wooded glade into the cold rain of Winter, when you hear a dragon's cry above you and your hand reaches for your blade, when you solve a 'problem' for a child and enter into the service of Sithis. These are amazing moments, and the game is full of them.

Favourite game of all time!

Where to begin with Skyrim? Funnily enough, this is exactly what I think whenever I begin my new play-through of this masterpiece. Skyrim is such a memorable, incredible and immersive experience that will never leave my memory. The beautifully diverse world with its varying climates, wonderful towns and villages; the interesting and colourful characters; and not forgetting the memorable and exhilarating adventures, will stay with you forever as some of the best you will ever have the pleasure of experiencing. I have sunk thousands of hours into my many characters and playstyles, and thanks to the magic of pc mods, I will continue to do so until no longer possible. The main story however, does not quite do this game justice. It is not the best part of the game but is still enjoyable. Some RPG elements are fairly simplified, yet still fun and rewarding. Perhaps the thing that has aged the worst however, is the basic hack and slash combat, plus the sometimes lack-luster magic system that is hopefully improved in the next Elder Scrolls. Despite this, TES 5 Skyrim is a game that everybody should play as it will not fail to keep you entertained and you will definitely keep coming back for more - and wish, as I do, that you could experience it all for the first time once again. It is surely a game that all other RPG's should strive to beat or at least replicate. If they did, they would be truly remarkable, as this is a bench-mark set in a fantastic era for gamers. Make sure you end up with a copy at one point or another, in your life!

Skyrim, you know, that great RPG game!

I mean, you know what this game is right? Skyrim, one of the best selling RPGs out there? Skyrim, if it wasn't for the Steam Workshop, this game would've died a long time ago. But people still play it today and it's even bigger than it used to be thanks to mods. It has countless number of quests for you to do and many types of armor and weapons to use at your disposal. Not a weapon type guy? Run in there with some magic then. Do whatever you want, Skyrim doesn't care what you do. Want to massacre every in Riverwood? You go ahead and do that, just make sure you know that the guards will be on you for the rest of your life now. Want to ride dragons? Okay well just throw in 20 more bucks and you can do that. The possibilities in Skyrim is endless. The scenery is truly outstanding. Compiled with the HD retexturing DLC, the world of Skyrim is truly a spectacle to behold. With even more mods to make the game even more immersive. If it wasn't for the modding community, the game end up like every other Elder Scrolls game. Just an RPG. The modding community continues to grow this game so that it last longer with us.

Come for the world, stay for the stories

Bethesda is often flamed for reducing the RPG elements in this game, but if they were more complex in the past I'm certainly glad they streamlined the process. There is an overwhelming amount of things to do, and to be frank much of it is busywork (looking at you blacksmithing). But it's easy to forget about that stuff when you are running around, exploring the stories presented in, well, poor fashion. Writing is bland, presentation is clunky, gameplay is also clunky (very clunky), but you still walk away saying 'today I walked as far as I could into the icebergs, found a cave with a treasure, and upon opening it, had to fight off two large frost rocks. I don't know what I was expecting, but I'm glad this happened instead. Now I must flee, for a bear has spotted me.' Oh and if you hate spiders, don't play.

One of the greatest communities

So much potential in this game, quite sad they "degressed" to ESO. But, the story line, the feeling you get when you learn every possible character and do every possible outcome... but still come back with the modded community ! It's absolutely glorious of a game, unlimited repeatable playability.
