Pretty, thoughtful, flawed

The first thing that hits you in The Whispered World is the look. It has spot-on cartoon fantasy style with loads of hand-drawn character animation and pretty backdrops, backed by a pleasant cinematic soundtrack and punctuated by occasional full-screen animated FMV. It's not quite Disney, but it's genuinely remarkable for an adventure game. Sadwick, the hero, plays a young clown chafing at his uncomfortable life in his family's tiny traveling circus. This being a fantasy story, he meets a stranger and learns that the fate of the world is on his back. While the way the story ends may strike some as a cheap surprise, it ties in wonderfully with the main theme of Sadwick's journey. The characters and places encountered along the way are charming and well-rendered. There are a handful of issues with the translation, and some players object to the voice acting. I personally enjoyed the hammy enthusiasm in many of the performances. My main complaint with The Whispered World is the puzzles. Some players might find it a lovely, not-quite-old-school challenge, but the "moon logic" here is sometimes far beyond the LucasArts classics that I consider the gold standard in adventure puzzles. (It's not as cruel as Sierra could be: there are no ways to fail completely that I could find.) At one point Sadwick actually remarks that the solution to a puzzle is crazy and shouldn't have worked, to which I'd respond that self-awareness isn't a substitute for sensible design. With a walk-through at hand to get over the speed bumps, The Whispered World is a lovely experience.

Beautiful art, Amazing story, This game really get into your soul...

"Wow" I said to myself after I finished the game because this game proves that video games can give a message to people and they can't even notice getting it. The Whispered World has amazing characters and gameplay for gamers who enjoy fantastic world. It makes you face different puzzles which vary in difficulty. I used some walkthrough guides to pass some stages but the game overall is not hard to finish. The story which is kept hidden from the gamers is revealed at the end of the game and it really made me fell this game is worth playing. As a gamer who also likes Broken Sword series, I can recommend this game to everyone who wants to play something different from typical commercial video games. This game includes you into itself and makes you feel connected to the game. Even this game may make gamers who don't enjoy a fantastic world like this amazing whispered world.

Sentimental time machine

As a child I loved every single point and click adventure. Unfortunately, I noticed that nowadays I cannot enjoy them, because of the slow-pace, and ugly graphics most of the time. However, upon stumbling on Whispered World I've noticed, that it looks totally like the oldschool games, with pretty 2D graphics, enjoyable stories and characters that you can like! I absolutely adore the hand-painted background, and the way the characters are introduced. The storyline kept me glued to the computer screen and is far better than some RPGs I've played lately. Cant say bad thing about audio, as the music is beautiful! Also the game is pretty cheap, and was featured in bundles, so you have a chance of getting it for a few pounds, and you definitely should get it!

Fantasy point and click done well

I don't know what to think of the developers. The game itself good, your everyday traditional point and click adventure game from Daedalic Entertainment, Awesome fantasy artstyle, great characters and story, colorful almost surreal backgrounds and atmosphere makes up The Whispered World. Some problems like random puzzles that cannot be considered puzzles, logical problems in puzzles, too much time spent on dialogues, and all those quirky problems that most of the traditional point and click adventure games face are still there, but everything else more than makes up for it. Great game if you are buying it for the first time. Now the problem is, this game was broken on PC. Almost everyone who bought it originally could not finish the game because of a glaring bug, which had to be bypassed by a savegame which developers were handing out to everyone. Now instead of patching the game and releasing it for free, they decided to add features like steam card drops, achievements etc and are now CHARGING for it. Even to those who already owned the earlier version. So for consumers who already bought the game, I ask you to not give then any more money and stay away from this edition. For those who didn't buy it the first time, go ahead and give this game a try.

Interesting design and story

Deep story organised with hand drawn and a bit pastel graphics. You are a boy who needs to... Oh no, no, no spoilers are allowed :) Read more from an article from Adventure Zone: "Daedalic Entertainment Company decided to reheat steak ... i.e. refresh us one of his earlier works. 6th May sales hit a special edition of The Whispered World. The game comes with a bonus in the form of comments artists, rebuilt tutorial and new achievements to unlock." So nothing special for those who played already, but if you didn't then it should be quite interesting. Notice that bugs unpatched by regular edition, now should been fixed. Grab it from GMG ;)
