The first open world in the series, it’s what I am most excited about. I’m a huge fan of Borderlands and playing online alongside friends and tackling different missions whilst supporting your teammates. Ghost Recon achieves just that, minus the split screen, but we’re really spoilt when it comes to the games superb graphics and the sheer beauty of the map and world.

If you’re a fan of the Ghost Recon series or maybe Wildlands is new for you, it’s really worth jumping in just for the open world alone. Let alone the incredible line up of Ghosts, enemies, weaponry and the ability to customise and make the game your own.

Great Open World Game!

General: Overall, the game is a beautifully crafted open world game that gives you unlimited possibilities in freedom to play how you want to play. In short, this game is well worth the time put into it and you will experience a terrain and numerous, numerous areas to encounter enemies. It does have some issues (like land vehicles, some physics, and some audio) but overall, great game to play. Graphics: Graphics were a huge part of this games focus and that much is apparent. To enjoy this you don't necessarily have to have the highest settings, although, it does help to have settings on high for the closer details. When viewing the "world" you will see the vastness of the terrain. Probably one of the most well-designed terrains in a game to date. The shear openness and multiple environments to play in is worth playing this game on its own! Up close, the detail in the "normal maps, height maps, and base colors" is definitely well deserving recognition too! Foliage is done really nicely and the LODs are set up very well in the menus to visually see the impact you are making...before making it (most games need this)! Between the day-night cycle, the weather, fog, wind, etc...this games beauty speaks for itself. Gameplay: Whether it is rushing in guns blazing or sneaking around like a ghost (like me) to take out your targets unseen, this game gives you the possibility to play how you want to. Each region has it's own set of "story missions" to complete in order to disable the cartel and each regions has it's own "boss" who contributes to the overall network. It may seem like, to some, that things can be repetitive, but honestly, what game isn't? Each mission is different in that it is a completely different "location, size, difficulty" than the next. Each region brings a different scale to those "missions" that some think are repetitive but if someone pays attentions to the dialogue from each region, that person will see that there is a good story to witness at each and every mission. The side missions are great to take you away from the story if you want and they also help you get more gear and grabbing intel is key on finding new objectives and items. Side missions can be repetitive to some people but again, the different terrain and regions and difficulty of enemies brings enough diversity to most! Solo play is fun, and in some cases easier than co-op game play. Playing with your friends allows the AI to be more difficult to overcome, and I don't mean the difficulty setting you choose. The AI are dynamic in strength overall per number of players you play with; quite interesting system. Playing with your friends really makes this games game play shine as you can work together in numerous ways. All in all, this raiding camps and shooting moving vehicles is all really fun. Function: The game no doubt works fairly well. Shooting weapons feels satisfying and the bullet drop is nice, although not entirely realistic but it is present no doubt. Gun audio for some weapons is far too silent but the weapons with the silencer attachment feels good. The skill system is all fun but the skills that allow you to receive less bullet damage or be able to shoot vehicles easier is something that is unrealistic and not my personal taste. If you want less bullet damage there should be a ballistic system with body armor and helmet category items instead of just a skill point. But, the skill tree is easy to navigate and as a whole is a nice touch with unlocking items and upgrading your drone and squad tactics. Ground vehicles are much to be desired! They look great graphically but the physics of driving them seems like each vehicle weighs three times what it should and it somehow always seems to know where down is. However, flying the helicopter is way more fun. It is rather difficult to learn how to fly...pretty big learning curve, but once you figure it out, it is the main vehicle to play with IMO! Physical damage to all vehicles is there but I feel vehicles should be disabled or blow up essentially with as much beating as a truck can take going down a rocky hillside. Realism and physics here need working...although, the fun factor is still very high. Summary: All in all, this game is really, really fun to play. Just exploring the landscape alone is fun. The vast amounts of space to explore and the several side ops and things to find will bring you hours and hours of gameplay. If you enjoy open world games, this game is for you, but if you get bored really easily and find things to be too repetitive then you likely won't see this game fun...or most games fun for that matter. There is enough in this game to bring you and your friends with great moments of stealthiness, explosions, escapes, and raids on camps to last a long time! This game is 4.7 stars our of 5 for me based on my "short" review!

Decent game

This plays like a fusion of classic Ghost Recon and Far Cry. Some elements really work well. The Vehicles are great. The online multiplayer is really fun. Some of the missions are exciting and filled with setpieces. Pulling off an infiltration is really fun. Unfortunately the game gets repetitive after a couple hours. The single player is kind of bland as well.
