Reviews for Warlock: Master of the Arcane - Complete Edition

An interesting game, but...

Warlock: Master of the Arcane it's an interesting strategic/sandobx game. A sort of Civilization placed in a fantasy world, linked to the old Majestic Serie with many quotes. I played it for many hours, and i like it very much: indeed it's a very addicting game, (maybe a bit too easy), with a juicy map system that allow the player to visit warious world during the same game. But there are some defects too. First of all the lack of a serious strategic/diplomatic system. Yes you ou can sell spells, or make alliances with the I.A. ...but in a very limited way. A more depth system would have made the game significantly better. So in the end...it's not a "must buy", but it's remains a good game. Reccomemended.

a fun 4x, Civ V with magic.

Warlock master of the Arcane feels much like a simpler Civilization V but with the addition of magic. The basic game is simple - you build a city, you improve the land around it, you build units to fight the wild animals, you build settlers and repeat. eventually you meet other players/AI and you can trade, ally or fight them. The twist comes in the form of spellcasting. you can cast a variety of spells and activate them on the map. this can be summoning units, buffing existing ones or directly damaging enemy units. The game is no where near as deep as other 4x games, but this allows it to be very easy and accessible to new players of the 4x genre. Veterans however might be disappointed.

Addicting 4x

I don't play a lot of strategies, but I got this one in a bundle and decided to try it. Warlock ended up being very addicting. I really liked the different units I could use and upgrade. This game has a good balance to it. With the complete edition, you get all the DLC thrown in with it. I liked the diplomatic relations in the game, the city building, the exploration, the combat. There wasn't really any part that repulsed me from enjoying Warlock. The magical powers were pretty good, such as summoning units, or sending down lightning, all the usual fantasy fare.

Slightly less polished fantasy version of Civilization

Like the title says, it's very much a fantasy version of the civilization-series but maybe slightly less polished. When I bought the game on steam a few years ago (maybe half a year after release) I had some problems with crashes when trying to play, but a few patches fixed those problems, at least for me. If you've never played a game like this before, I would recommend you try the Civilization series first, but if you've played those and want something a bit different, you should try this. The magic system makes enough of a difference to change the experience quite a bit. Also, if you already own this game and just want the DLCs, you should buy it now when it's on sale, otherwise it isn't really worth it. The only DLCs you really need is the new gamemode and the new faction.

Now ith all DLCs!

I have played Warlock: Master of the Arcane without any addons and had really good time. It's like Civilization game but in fantasy setting, which is awesome thing. If you are getting bored with Civ games you can try this one and I'm sure you won't regret it. Take a note that DLCs gives many new things to the game: new mode, units, buildings, spells and much, much more. Buying all DLCs separate wasn't a great deal but with this pack - it's a great price, and if you are new player that are looking for a great strategy, civilization-like game to spend time with - Warlock: Master of Arcane is best choice.
