Game description

Long, long ago, in an age that only the gods can now remember, the universe was ruled by two powerful beings that were revered and worshipped by all races - but the ‘brotherly' relationship between these two creatures was always in question from the beginning of time. To cut a long story short, they hid two artifacts in a huge Temple.

Any human being who comes in contact with these powerful stones will be horribly cursed - and the power of darkness will once again be awakened. The adventurer Ayumi starts searching for the immensely valuable stones. Powerful forces against which she is helpless threaten to awake in her body. Now it's up to her to discover the secret of the curse - and at last defeat the Dark.

X-BLADES offers action-packed enjoyment in fantastic Hack-and-Slash style. Using various weapons, spells and tactics, the player must fight his way through many indoor and outdoor levels, killing hordes of monsters on the way. The story, exciting and rich in variety with numerous cutscenes not only motivates the player, it also cleverly interlinks the individual levels. Offense is the best form of defense! Forget the competition - I'll give you all the action you'll ever need! OK... I am a treasure hunter, so my motives maybe aren't always angelic - but my "Slash Dance" through the hordes of the Dark is a thing of beauty!

A good JRPG, but not the best

X-Blades is an adventure hack and slash game with RPG elements. Aside from the characters and the objects the game?s graphics are stellar. For example, the environmental and water effects, the light hitting your weapons from the sunshine, etc. This makes the game very eye catching. The game does support ten languages which I was not expecting. There isn?t much that you can tweak in the video settings. You are given the preset settings. However, you can play in windowed mode but not borderless. The game is full of RPG elements, there are hidden items to collect and soul drops from the AI to help you power up your character with a number of different types of abilities.

Game only for one time.

You can call it poor man's Devil May Cry. Still, it's not bad hack and slash game, with beautiful Ayumi. You are traveling from place to place and kill all enemies in those places. If I remember, there was a count how many monsters are left, also they are showed on minimap. Sadly, when you learn about game mechanics this game will not be hard to beat. Even on harder difficult levels, it's still too easy. For the story, I didn't enjoyed it and I just played this game as h&s with good looking girl. Don't let yourself be fooled, the alternate ending is just a simply one scene at the end. Not worth effort playing the whole game again. Like my title for this review said, it's a game only for one time. Once you beat it, there will be nothing to do - there are not many things to do except following "story". Decide for yourself, if you are looking for decent game to play once and leave it, or maybe something other. You can check it only if you are a hard fan of DMC-like games.
