Great stuff


I like the cosmetics alright, and the alien hunters is cool but, Shen's last gift is an absolute must. It adds the best narrative mission and cinematic in the game, plus the sparks are really fun to play with.

Essential to the game


All three DLC's are really useful for a second, or even a first playthrough. I personally like to give the vanilla a first run, since there will be countless playthroughs anyway, but to each their own, this game is pretty hard, so every help is nice :) Of the three, Shen's last gift is the best. Not only you will get a class of Rambo Wall-E soldiers, but you also get to be in a mission, that gives closure for core character from the first game, and also one from the current. It's a very nice story, and the mission is pretty intense as well. The new class is essentially the augmented soldier from the first game, albeit a little different, but this time around it doesn1t literally cost an arm a leg...just figuratively :) Alien hunters is tough. Like this game wasn't hard enough. The new missions here are just as insane as that chrysalis fishing village in the first. If you can do it without casualties, you can be proud. Also, the whole pack gives you tons of options for customization. Some of them are pretty ridiculous. For me...i always try to make them look like power rangers :) With this pack i pretty much can.

Mixture of ok cosmetics with some good and great new content


XCOM 2's Reinforcement Pack includes the first three DLC packs made by the developer Anarchy's Children, Alien Hunters, and Shen's Last Gift. The Anarchy's Children DLC adds new helmets, face paint, leg options, torso options, lower face, and it also gives you some new categories for left and right arm and shoulder options. The new appearance options include a lot of cyberpunk styled options or things that you would expect to see the enemies in Borderlands wearing. There a few different things like samurai masks and aviator goggles. Some of the new arm, leg, and torso options are nice letting you have vests, shorts, a wider option of pants, or to have bare arms to better show off tattoos possibly with smaller gauntlets or shoulder guards added. Feels like they should have added some tattoo options with the style they were going for. Whether or not you will like this DLC depends on how much you like the style they are going for, and for the most part it doesn't appeal to me, but they did a good job with what they did add. You also have modders adding this kind of stuff for free so that might also cause you to reconsider buying this by itself. Alien Hunters adds a new mission to game, three powerful enemies that will show up during the middle of random missions to fight you, and new equipment. The new enemies are a stronger version of the Viper, Berserker, and Archon, when they show up they will move after every single one of your soldiers and will leave the battlefield if they are not killed quickly. Killing them allows you to craft unique armor with new abilities and the passive benefit of scaring the normal versions of the enemies that it was crafted from. New weapons include a pistol that will conceal you after kills, an axe that can be thrown at enemies, a high damage gun that must be reloaded after each shot, and ice grenades that will freeze targets.The new weapons are all good but you will only get one of each and if you lose the character holding them and don't bring the body back you will not get another one. A new room has also been added to your ship where trophies of your kills are displayed on the walls. Price is a little high for what you get but the content is good. Shen's Last Gift is the last of the announced developer DLC packs for XCOM 2, due to the name most people thought this would add playable mechs, and they were correct. Much like Alien Hunters you are given a narrative driven quest, this time with Lily Shen joining you on the mission, that will add a new mechanical squad member, a SPARK, to your team once the mission has been completed and the added ability of producing more of them at your Proving Grounds. Being a mechanical unit you can take them into battles even when they are still wounded, or you can have them put into a repair bay in the ship. The units are costly to produce and you will need to take care of them in battle as they can not make use of cover, however, their powerful abilities will be an asset to your team. The SPARKs have the ability to go into an overdrive mode to receive additional actions and can be promoted and upgraded just like your human soldiers. They are given a powerful gun and heavy weapon to start with and can be upgraded with abilities that can make them stronger as they get promoted. They also have an item that is similar to a Gremlin that can hack enemy units. Promotions come with their own names and include abilities that can give them additional armor and cover for nearby squadmates, better aim, a melee attack, improved damage and range for equipped heavy weapons, smash through the environment while moving, directing attacks towards you, powering up your weapons when shot at, etc. The SPARKs are given a few cosmetic options and two voices to choose from (with different language options) but nowhere near as much as you would expect them to have, maybe this can be improved by player mods. With the addition of a brand new class of soldier to use this is likely to be considered the best of the DLC so far and is worth picking up. The Reinforcement pack allows you to get the content at a lower price, with two of them being worthy editions and with the Anarchy's Children being the least interesting of the three. If you had planned on picking up Shen's Last Gift and Alien Hunters this is a good purchase.



Really good game. Lots of action. The timer is mostly not a problem and adds to the frantic battles. Lots of cool upgrades for the units, and neat weapons. Plays a little shorter than the previous game Enemy Unknown. Wounds hurt! as there is a lot of recovery time when wounded ... makes having backups useful. The new map design randomness is nice. The enemies are a good mix of weapons fire and melee. Winning is rough but oh so satisfying. I also like the new way the geoscape has things to do on it. Very cool. XCOM 2 is one of my favorite games. Of course, I played the original way back when and others. Great Game. The Reinforcement Pack just will add to that experience.
