Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z is a spin-off game derived from the famous Ninja series. This time you play as Yaiba, a Ninja killed by Ryu Hayabusa and revived as a cyborg. Your goal is to get your revenge but there is an army of zombies between you and Hayabusa. Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z is very different from the original games. The fight are less subtle, more focused on the attack than the defense and the game is not as hard as the Ninja Gaiden games. It's fun though but very different. Visually, Ninja Gaiden Z looks great with cell shading graphics. At least the characters don't look like dolls anymore. There are a ton of content but the enemies' variety is lacking. It's an average action game. Not a masterpiece.
Yaiba. That’s the name of your character. He’s a ninja and he was killed by Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden). However, someone saved his life by making him a Cyborg. It’s the perfect opportunity for Yaiba to find Hayabusa and kill him once and for all. But, the place is infested by zombies!? As a spin-off game, Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z is supposed to be different from the main games. And sure it is different. Visually, the game uses cell-shading graphics that suit it pretty well. The soundtrack is also a lot different. But the real difference lies in the gameplay. Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z is... less subtle than Ninja Gaiden. Not as deep as the main game, this spin-off offers a lot of combat against zombies of all kinds. However, it’s still a fun game and it’s still challenging. It’s just not as good as the main series.
The game seems like a pretty decent hack and slash, I have played it a little and the game play mechanics seem to remind me of DMC and the art style is very vibrant and colorful. The art style is somewhat of a mix between the Borderlands universe and TellTale's TWD. The story line is somewhat interesting with you fighting zombies while also having to avoid humans pursuing you for a couple of reasons. This game feels like a 3d side scroller and also has a little bit of spider man simulator with it's ninja rope swinging action. It's quite enjoyable for the 3 - 4 hours I have played so far. Has a fair bit of comedy to it as well.
