Sony has announced that it is poised to reduce the price of its PlayStation VR headset by £90.
As of March 29, a PlayStation VR and PlayStation Camera bundle will cost £259.99 in the UK, a significant reduction on its current suggested retail price of £349.99. The company said: “With the attractive new price point, Sony Interactive Entertainment will further expand the PS VR platform along with the great line-up of exciting VR games and revolutionary experiences.”
Sony pointed out that since the PlayStation VR’s 2016 launch, roughly 300 games and “experiences” have shipped for it, with the likes of Blood & Truth, WipEout Omega collection and Firewall Zero Hour due to arrive this year. In December 2017, Sony revealed that over two million PlayStation VR headsets had been sold. Sony will clearly be hoping that the price-drop will trigger a renewed spike in PlayStation VR sales.
