The latest entry to the Call of Duty franchise – Vanguard – is dropping on 5th November, and with it sees the inclusion of one of the best game modes to be introduced to Call of Duty; Zombies. With new characters, new weapons and new secrets to uncover, the story of the Dark Aether will continue. Check out what to expect in Call of Duty Vanguard Zombies.
Call of Duty Vanguard Zombies Story
It began with an experiment gone wrong at Projekt Endstation, which punched a hole through the dimensional veil. Special Forces are now stranded in Stalingrad in 1944, held by the dark magic of Kortifex the Deathless – one of the five Dark Aether entities bonded with mortals. The other four will be introduced in Call of Duty Vanguard’s new map “Der Anfang” (“The Beginning”) via artifacts plundered by antagonist Von List.
Von List is bonded with Kortifex and now has the power to raise the dead, meaning that the operatives now have slim hope of fighting back. However, with help from Professor Gabriel Krafft – a demonologist forced by Von List to uncover the artefacts – you will help guide the Specialists and offer new powers to fight back against the hordes of dead.
Call of Duty Vanguard Zombies Crossplay
Just as you can team up in multiplayer, Call of Duty Vanguard Zombies Crossplay is also possible. This allows players from any platform to play together. Crossplay also stretches across console generations meaning anyone, no matter what they play on can team up with their friends and fight off the zombie invasions together.
Which Call of Duty Vanguard Zombies maps will be playable?
The ruins of Stalingrad will be the main new map location; however, from the trailer we can see that players will be taken to many of the standard multiplayer maps just with a nice zombie-style makeover. The Call of Duty Vanguard Zombies maps include Red Star, Eagle’s Nest and Hotel Royal. It also seems likely that Shi No Numa will feature in some form – a fan favourite from World at War.
Other Features
Some other notable Call of Duty Zombies features are new entity abilities. Four Dark Aether entities have their own unique abilities to choose from, such as Frost Blast, Ring of Fire, Energy Mine and Aether Sword. Additionally, the new Stalingrad base location features the Altar of Covenants, allowing players to pick randomised upgrades after offering up a Sacrificial Heart. Players receive hearts at the end of objectives, and upgrades including the likes of Ammo Gremlin – allowing you to reload unequipped weapons – and Brain Rot, which can turn zombies into allies. Very useful!
The Vanguard Battlepass is now unified across modes, meaning that if you play Zombies you will still earn progression towards the Battlepass. There will also be new weapons to use and much more besides; don’t forget, there will always be lots of new secrets to discover as you play.
Call of Duty Vanguard Zombies is looking fantastic and will no doubt deliver more of the good stuff that players have loved so much over the years. But what are you most excited about? Let us know over at our Community Forum!
