Far Cry 6 Crossplay and Multiplayer – What You Need To Know

Casting players as the furious rebel firebrand of a Cuba-inspired island battling for freedom against a tyrannical regime…the whole thing would certainly be a lot easier if you had other like-minded folks battling alongside you. So, how does Far Cry 6 crossplay and multiplayer fare? Well, like a rocket-shooting sausage dog (there’s actually one of those in the game, honest!), we’re faithfully at your disposal to tell you everything.

Far Cry 6 Crossplay – Does Far Cry 6 Have Cross-Platform Support?

Far Cry 6 Crossplay - Does Far Cry 6 Have Cross-Platform Support?

Given the fact that Far Cry 6 is releasing across a wide range of different platforms, it would make a whole heap of sense for players to battle alongside each other regardless of their gaming box of choice. So, does Far Cry 6 allow crossplay? Sadly, no. To date, Ubisoft has not made any official announcement regarding the intentions for Far Cry 6 crossplay, although it does already offer cross-gen gaming.

There is, of course, every chance that the cross-platform support for Far Cry 6 could be implemented further down the line via the miracle of a patch update. As it is right now though, it’ll just be you and yours facing down the forces of the nefarious “El Presidente” Antón Castillo.

Far Cry 6 Multiplayer – What Can We Expect From Far Cry 6 Co-op?

Far Cry 6 Multiplayer - What Can We Expect From Far Cry 6 Co-op?

Like Far Cry 5 and Far Cry: New Dawn before it, Far Cry 6 doesn’t provide any kind of adversarial online multiplayer modes, instead preferring to allow players to team up and take on the facist tyranny of Yara as a group in some good old fashion co-operative action.

Far Cry 6 co-operative play is chiefly split up into two main modes – co-operative campaigns and the new SpecOps missions that draw some inspiration from Far Cry: New Dawn. How do you use them though? Well, I’m glad you asked.

Accessing Far Cry 6 Campaign Co-op couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is complete the prologue and initial set of missions, and then you and one other chum can hustle up and take on the entirety of Far Cry 6’s story campaign together. Even better still, progression is now shared between both players too!

Far Cry 6 Special Operations – What Are They And How To Access Them

Away from the main story campaign that you can tackle with a friend, Far Cry 6 also boasts a range of special operations that allow you to get in on the action with another gun-toting buddy. Accessible from the camps that you’ll stumble across throughout the island of Yara, these special operations are missions with specific objectives that must be completed – often against a time limit.

Different from the core missions and other tasks that form the bedrock of Far Cry 6’s story campaign, these special operations are challenging indeed, and will test even the more hardened pair of Far Cry 6 players to their limit.
