The “TTRPG” part of the title is shorthand for a party-based tactical game featuring all the roles you would usually expect. Explaining that somewhat defeats the point of shorthand, but life comes at you fast. Forsworn is an incredibly tactical roguelike and an absolute delight to play. Its core systems will feel immediately familiar if you have played similar games, but its battles offer plenty of depth and reward strong team synergy.

Better yet, you do not have to go it alone. You can head into battle with up to two friends, working together to use each character’s action points as efficiently as possible. Assembling your party is only the first step; you also need to decide how each character will develop, whether that means building a paladin who can absorb enemy attacks or one focused on smiting foes.
Each level offers several ways to grow stronger. You can build a balanced team around traditional party roles or have everyone focus on buffing and protecting one especially powerful character. Experimenting with these approaches is a lot of fun. Every class feels distinct, while your levelling choices can completely transform how individual characters play from one run to the next.

You guide your group through a Slay the Spire-style progression map as you attempt to complete a variety of quests. The formula might not reinvent the wheel, but it certainly makes that wheel feel good to ride. The characters are a delight, the items you collect can completely reshape your build, and the enemy and encounter design keeps battles interesting. If you enjoy tactical decision-making and party-based combat, Forsworn is a must-play.
