Jason Coles

Jason Coles

Jason likes to focus on roguelikes and co-op games; in a dream world he'd make a living writing about Dark Souls. As well as being a writer he also does personal training and accounting and can occasionally be seen on other people's streams. Being a big fan of fluffy things means he has two cats, both of whom refuse to let him sleep, but at least they are cute.

Tools Up! could be the next Overcooked

December 9th, 2019 Jason Coles
Tools Up! is a game all about working together to renovate houses. That sounds a lot like work to some people, but the aim of the game is to have fun, not actually do work. It’s not like they’re asking you to actually go and move furniture or do the painting in real life, because that would...

Darksiders Genesis could change the franchise

December 4th, 2019 Jason Coles
It’s probably fair to say that the Darksiders series is a bit hit-and-miss. While many people lauded the first as being a very solid, and somewhat gritty, take on the classic Zelda formula, both the second and third entries weren’t received as well. This could well be due to the other popular...

5 Things You Should Know About Death Stranding

November 27th, 2019 Jason Coles
Death Stranding has been out for a few weeks now, and that means you’ve probably seen or read a lot about it. It’s the first game from Hideo Kojima as an independent of sorts, with no higher-ups at Konami telling him no. It’s also one of the most star-filled games in existence thanks to a...

SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays

November 20th, 2019 Jason Coles
If I was to say that SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays was coming over to the west, what would you think? It would either be a) bless you, or, b) hell yeah it is. If you aren’t at all familiar with the string of SEO-hating words I just vomited into the first line of this piece, then let me...

Shenmue 3: Everything you need to know

November 13th, 2019 Jason Coles
Shenmue 3 is not only real but also out soon, really soon in fact on November 19th. It’s not been an easy ride for the series though. The original Shenmue came out a full two decades ago in 1999 and released on the unfortunately ill-fated Dreamcast. This isn’t a series you can really jump into...

Disney Classic Games PC release - I just can't wait to show you a whole new world

October 29th, 2019 Jason Coles
It used to be that any film that was released inevitably had a game tie-in. It was just the way things were, it meant that there was massive waves of film-based gaming to do, and not all of it was terrible. Actually, some of the games were genuinely great, or at least they felt great at the...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare like you've never seen before

October 24th, 2019 Jason Coles
Call of Duty gets a lot of stick for never really innovating or changing year to year, the thing is, that's not really fair. The unique three studio yearly cycle means that changes come through somewhat sporadically, but they always come through.  Call of Duty's Past Does not Define its...

Monkey King: Hero is Back

October 15th, 2019 Jason Coles
There's a surprisingly rich history of games that interpret the classic story of Journey to the West. A few years ago we got the magnificent Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, with a slightly darker interpretation of the tale (pun intended). Enslaved is possibly the best interpretation so far, which...

Deliver Us the Moon: Truth is Scarier Than Fiction

October 10th, 2019 Jason Coles
First things first, Deliver Us the Moon is neither a game about Deliveries nor about the almighty power of yeeting. Instead, it is a sci-fi thriller set after an apocalypse caused by a lack of resources. You see, we - the people - have successfully used up all of the Earth’s natural resources...

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Comes to PC

October 1st, 2019 Jason Coles
Good monster collecting games are surprisingly sparse on PC. It's an annoying fact of life for those of us who don't own consoles, we simply don't get to train up our little beasts, and evolve them before un-evolving them then re-evolving them into a new kind of dog with machine guns. What's that?...

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep The Moon and Beyond

September 25th, 2019 Jason Coles
We’re drawing ever nearer to the release of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, the latest expansion to Bungie’s space shooter. The expansion brings with it a huge slew of changes, not just limited to PC storefronts and new boss battles, but it actually changes a lot about how you’ll be playing the game...

Tokyo Game Show - The Big Announcements

September 17th, 2019 Jason Coles
Tokyo Game Show is always a big deal, it’s just not always given as much attention as something like E3 or Gamescom because it doesn’t always lead to games released in the west. Nevertheless, with games coming over to us far more often these days, it makes sense that we should all be keeping a...
