Graveyard Keeper 2 Mini-Review: A Cosy Game Without a Moral Compass

Graveyard Keeper originally took the cosy gaming world by storm with its silly sense of humour, darker themes, and an overall “what if Stardew Valley was about being morally corrupt and burying people?” vibe. It was a deeply bizarre yet endlessly entertaining management sim. Now, we’ve got fantastic news: Graveyard Keeper 2 is officially here to deliver even more macabre fun.

A Bizarre Story of Amnesia and Talking Skulls

Once again, you take control of the Keeper. An amnesiac protagonist who is very clearly having a rough start. The game kicks off with you tied up after enduring months of torture. It’s a grim situation, but there’s a silver lining: a magical fairy arrives to help you escape, alongside a quirky talking skull. Truthfully, it’s best not to overthink the narrative logic here. It isn’t meant to make complete sense; it’s designed to keep you laughing.

Managing Graveyards, Automation, and Zombie Warfare

Your primary objective remains managing a sprawling, neglected graveyard, but Graveyard Keeper 2 introduces brilliant quality-of-life upgrades. You can now automate some of the more tedious farming and crafting tasks, making your daily routine feel significantly smoother.

Beyond tombstone maintenance, you’re tasked with rebuilding a nearby town that’s under siege by zombies. Naturally, your solution is to craft your own undead army to fight them off. Again, don’t think too hard about it. Just embrace the chaos.

Dark Humour Meets Cosy Game Vibes

You can play with varying degrees of chaos in your blood, but the game constantly nudges you to commit increasingly abhorrent acts as you progress. Yet, despite playing as an objectively questionable human being, the game maintains an inexplicably comfy atmosphere.

While your actions aren’t wholesome, the core gameplay loop shares the same satisfying, relaxed rhythm as management games like Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing. If you love addictive simulator games, crave pitch-black comedy, and want a little skull for a best friend, Graveyard Keeper 2 is ready to satisfy your darkest gaming cravings.
