Is there any better time than a holiday break to crack on with that game you’ve been meaning to get to for a while? Many of us at Green Man Gaming are using these last few days of the year to kick back and play some long-anticipated games. So whether we’re hoping to see it wrapped up under the tree or have just been waiting for some downtime to get our game on, here’s what games are on some of our team’s Christmas Wishlist.
Operation: Tango
I’ve had Operation: Tango in my library for a few months now, and have been waiting for winter weather when there’s nothing much to do outside. And having some time off at Christmas makes it the perfect time to team up with my friend for a bit of spying fun, especially since the game offers cross-platform support! I really like the look of the graphic art style which is still surprisingly high quality. Operation: Tango also won “Best Multiplayer Game” at Gamescom, so I have really high hopes for it.

Apex Legends
Apex Legends is a game that really never gets old. It’s my favorite game from the battle royale genre as it’s played in first person with more of a focus on weapon choice. The roster is full of fleshed-out characters with cool abilities and big personalities. The game is basically just huge amounts of fun. What also makes it so accessible is that it’s free to play; you only have to pay for additional characters and skins if you really want to…though for me, they do make the game more enjoyable!

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition
I was a bit of a late bloomer when it came to GTA, not picking up my first game until Grand Theft Auto IV came out in 2008! So having heard such great things about Vice City and San Andreas in particular, on hearing that The Definitive Edition was coming out with enhanced graphics and improved controls, I got seriously excited. There was absolutely no way that this wasn’t going straight on my Christmas wishlist. The absolute beauty of GTA games is that you can pick them up and put them down at will depending on how much time you have to play; perfect if you’re fitting gaming around family visits or work. This 80s baby is also very much looking forward to listening to its awesome soundtrack!

No Man’s Sky
I’ve been putting off playing this for years despite space and exploration being entirely my things, but you can tell that this is a game which will completely suck you in. Now I’m finally going to give it a proper go and explore its never-ending galaxy, make a base, and find my own perfect ship out there in the cosmos. The visuals look stunning and as the environment is procedurally generated, the world is almost infinite. Hopefully I’ll not get eaten too many times by carnivorous creatures.

Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 has such a well-realised world that so much goes on when just riding around. Suddenly it’s 3 years later and I’ve still not completed it, so I want to put some serious work into it over the Christmas break! The storyline follows the great western traditions, the gameplay is really fun, and the visuals are amongst some of Rockstar’s best yet. I really hope we might see more single player content in the future, or even a remake of the original Red Dead Redemption.
