With the various Summer Game Fest 2026 showcases now behind us, one thing is abundantly clear: the next 12 months are looking absolutely stacked.
From long-awaited sequels and surprise revivals to ambitious reimaginings of beloved franchises, this year’s summer showcases delivered no shortage of reasons to get excited about the future of gaming.
With so many announcements to choose from, here are the ten reveals that should absolutely be on your radar.

More than eleven years after the original, Alien Isolation 2 is finally real.
Considering how long fans have waited, many had understandably written off the possibility of a sequel ever happening. Thankfully, developer Creative Assembly had other ideas.
The debut trailer showcased a crashed spacecraft on a remote colony world, where a team of recon engineers investigate what went wrong. Naturally, it doesn’t take long before a Xenomorph begins stalking them from the shadows.
The original Alien Isolation remains one of the finest horror games ever made, so expectations are sky high for its successor.
Whenever Alien Isolation 2 arrives, it won’t be soon enough.

After years of waiting, Virtua Fighter is finally stepping back into the spotlight.
Now under the stewardship of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, Virtua Fighter Crossroads looks set to reinvent Sega’s legendary fighting franchise without sacrificing what made it special.
The biggest surprise is its story mode. Penned by David Hayter, the campaign takes players through a fully explorable 3D world packed with NPCs, side quests, cinematic cutscenes, and character driven storytelling.
Thankfully, the highly technical one-on-one combat remains intact, now bolstered by new techniques, counters, special moves, and fighters.
Virtua Fighter fans have been patient. It looks like that patience is finally paying off.

After spending what felt like an eternity trapped in development hell, The Wolf Among Us 2 finally re-emerged during Summer Game Fest with a confirmed 2027 release window.
Developed once again by Telltale Games, the sequel sees players return to the role of Bigby Wolf, the gruff werewolf detective tasked with solving a series of supernatural murders.
As an added bonus, Telltale also confirmed that the original The Wolf Among Us will receive a remaster later this year, making it easier than ever for newcomers to jump into the series.

It’s been two decades since the last brand-new mainline Spyro adventure.
Needless to say, the reveal of Spyro: A Realm Beyond was met with considerable excitement.
Developed by Toys for Bob, the reveal trailer didn’t show much gameplay. What it did show, however, was hugely promising. Colourful environments, imaginative character designs, and classic dragon-powered platforming were all front and centre.
If first impressions are anything to go by, Spyro’s return is in very safe hands.

Was there a more effective dose of nostalgia across all of Summer Game Fest than hearing The Offspring’s All I Want blast through the speakers during the first Crazy Taxi: World Tour trailer?
Probably not.
A full remake of Sega’s beloved arcade and Dreamcast classic, Crazy Taxi: World Tour once again sends players tearing through a wildly exaggerated San Francisco, now rebuilt in glorious 4K.
Add in new mini-games, modern visuals, and all the chaotic energy that made the original so memorable, and this looks like exactly the comeback fans have been waiting for.

One of the biggest surprises of the entire event was the reveal of Senua.
The third entry in the Hellblade series sees its troubled protagonist trapped within a purgatorial realm, desperately searching for a way to escape.
While the series’ trademark visual fidelity remains intact, this new instalment appears far more action focused than its predecessors. The reveal showcased aggressive combat, brutal finishers, and far more dynamic encounters than fans may have expected.
Best of all, the wait shouldn’t be too long, with a 2027 release already confirmed.

Picking up directly after the events of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Final Fantasy VII Revelation looks set to deliver a spectacular conclusion to Square Enix’s ambitious remake trilogy.
Returning combat systems are joined by several major additions, including full open-world exploration via the Highwind airship, new playable characters, and the FITS system, which allows party members to inherit abilities from classic Final Fantasy jobs.
If Square Enix sticks the landing, this could become one of the most memorable RPG finales in recent memory.

Sometimes the best way forward is to go back to the beginning.
Gears of War: E-Day takes players back to the terrifying first emergence of the Locust Horde, focusing on younger versions of Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago.
The showcase trailer highlighted a level of desperation and chaos rarely seen in previous entries. As civilians desperately flee Kalona, Marcus and Dom are forced to survive against an enemy nobody fully understands.
The familiar cover shooting, chainsaw duels, and explosive action all remain, but the setting gives everything a greater sense of urgency.
For longtime fans, this feels like the return to Gears’ roots that many have been hoping for.

While Kratos may be taking a well-earned break, God of War: Laufey proves there are still plenty of stories left to tell in this universe.
Faye takes centre stage in a new adventure set within the Everywhen, a strange afterlife realm inhabited by some of mythology’s most dangerous figures.
Imprisoned by Sekhmet, the Egyptian Goddess of War, Faye finds herself joined by an unlikely cast of companions as she fights to uncover the secrets hidden within this mysterious realm.
The combat appears considerably faster than the recent Norse saga, drawing inspiration from the original God of War games and even Devil May Cry.
With spectacular visuals, fluid action, and plenty of larger-than-life boss battles, this could be one of 2027’s standout releases.

If there was one announcement that completely stole the show, it was Resident Evil Veronica.
For years, fans have hoped that Resident Evil: Code Veronica would receive the remake treatment. At long last, Capcom has delivered.
The reveal opened Summer Game Fest in spectacular fashion, showcasing a fully rebuilt version of the fan favourite survival horror title. Claire Redfield once again takes centre stage as she searches for her brother Chris, though the remake introduces a fresh perspective before shifting back to the series’ familiar third-person gameplay.
Given Capcom’s exceptional track record with the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes, confidence is understandably high.
After more than two decades of anticipation, Resident Evil Veronica finally has its moment in the spotlight, and it already looks like another potential Game of the Year contender.
