Bioshock is a story heavy survival horror rpg, and train simulator, among other things. Ok, the train thing was a joke, but to be serious, there's a lot of dept in this game. There are many-many weapons, plus you can use X-men like powers as well, i a battle to the death, against enemies and machnies that are really out to get you. This world is pretty unforgiving, especially, if you try to be a good guy. So, would you kindly buy this game?:)
The game is a unique experience when it comes to visual experience. It is hard for me now to quote some productions showing the world at the bottom of the ocean, maybe, because such productions simply do not exist, and BioShock is one of a kind? The filled rooms with propaganda posters and the old school radio streaming through the radio only enhance the experience we relive through the Rapture corridors.
If you miss the days of System Shock, this game is more or less a follow-up to it in terms of atmosphere, although Rapture make it feel like something different and give it own personality. While the story is nothing amazing (it's spoiled to you after first 15 minutes of the game) with barely any surprises, music is just ok and shooting is average at best, what makes it great are plasmids, which are kind of like jedi powers and make this game a lot of fun. What actually makes this game great is atmosphere and Rapture, which is interesting place to explore. If you miss System Shock or can't wait for the remake, you should pick this up, it will calm your appetite for a while.
TL;DR: Bioshock is a great game, if you haven't played it you should. The gameplay is fun with first person gunfights and a hacking minigame that goes from easy to insane as you play the game. One problem I did have was that I could not figure out how to turn off the tutorial hints. The visuals were nice, I really don't see why they needed to push out a remaster. Actually the faces of the characters (I.E. the little sisters) looked really creepy and sometimes inhuman. The sound was good except it randomly stopped working and I had to enable some sound driver in my sound devices. The story was remarkable and if you have not played the game: BUY IT NOW AND PLAY IT! I do recommend Bioshock, I loved the boss battle at the end it was very satisfying and one of the very best I have ever played. It takes 12 to 16 hours to beat the game. I rate it a 9/10.
I had a lot of fun playing this game.Genuinely absorbing storytelling, hugely creepy atmosphere, scary and interesting enemies, great weapons, Bioshock is just one of those games where everything came together perfectly.
