Game description

An FPS for the ages

This spiritual successor to the cult System Shock series takes place in an underwater utopia turned dystopia. Very well known for its twist ending, Bioshock is a prime example of what games can achieve on a storytelling level. It uses both visuals and music to create an intriguing world and atmosphere while still keeping you on edge the whole time. This game switches between wonder and terror on a whim, which makes the experience all the more interesting. The story is probably going to be the biggest draw for most people. Akin to Nolan movies, Bioshock takes the best from AAA "blockbuster" games and more niche, "artful" games and blends it into this perfect mix of confusing but exhilarating story with an extravagant cast of characters. The heart of the game however lies, in my opinion, in the atmosphere. The beautiful underwater visuals paired with Garry Schyman's haunting score takes it to the next level. The 60's infused soundtrack also really clashes with some of the more futuristic machinery as well as the whole plasmids aspect of the game, in the best way possible. Combining stellar storytelling with an incredible ambience, Bioshock is a must play for sure.

Bioshock Looks Better Than Ever

Bioshock got a face-lift with this remastered edition. The original Bioshock you know and love now looks better than ever before. The enhanced visuals genuinely improve the gameplay experience, which has you deep underwater in the creepy city of Rapture in the 50's. You fight the drugged-out mutated inhabitants of the once-great underwater paradise and hunt for ways to alter and improve your DNA to gain abilities and powers. Bioshock has a very unique feel to it, but has borrowed alot from it's spiritual predecessor System Shock. If you liked System Shock, you'd like Bioshock. I'd recommend this game to anyone as the whole series is absolutely amazing. You'd seriously be doing yourself a favor by picking this up and trying it out.

BioShock play with the greatest drama.

Many people tend to confuse BioShock with a killing game and pure action (if it is) but I buy it because I was attracted to the story, in its time I did not think as much about the game as it was but wanted to feel the story as such, and the truth that I love, in its moment the BioShock now with this version remastered with incredible graphics I hope in the future to buy it again by GreenManGaming the remastered version since I want to test it for the new graphics. I recommend it.

Let's combine half Life and System Shock: Bioshock!

It only took a couple of minutes of gameplay for me to love Bioshock and what it represents. This is a new approach to what we know about story driven games. Combining mutant powers and arcade shooter mechanic and an amazing story and characters, this is an incredible experience that everyone should try, even if you're not into shooter games. Recommended.

This is one of the few games I dare to call a MASTERPIECE.

A truly fantastic FPS. The Narrative, told though voice-logs and a 1-way radio, does a great job in maintaining a good distance for the player; A perfect balance is struck between isolation (being forced to fight off hordes of splicers alone) and companionship (hearing a friendly voice motivate you forward.) As for the gameplay, barring a few personal gripes (there shouldn't ever be a hack that is 100% impossible, solely due to bad RNG), there are very few things to dislike. The wide selection of plasmids and firearms allows for numerous playstyles and adds a bit of replay value. I'd personally enjoy it if you could limit your armory to just the weapons you use regularly (too many times did I over-scroll to the chemical thrower when just trying to take a simple picture), but this is in no way a deal-breaker. Whether you heard about it back in the day and are just getting around to the classics, or recently played Bioshock Infinite and wanted to know what happened, this game is without a doubt worth a play, even if it may appear a bit visually dated.
