Overlord is a funny yet amazing RPG game where you are the evil guy and you can command your own group of minions to do the dirty work (Or die) for you, so you don't have to. There a couple of different minions for you to command and give them orders and join them in fight if you want to, or just sit and watch how they fight funny with the environment. The characters are funny and interesting, the same goes to the story and the music, the game still looks beautiful. You should get this if you want to have a funny RPG in your library.
I wasn't sure what to expect going into this game, but I wasn't expecting this much fun. The minions are sinfully delightful, managing to constantly crack me up. The gameplay, graphics and soundtrack are all done very well with the only complaint itself being that the Overlord is kind of slow moving, but not enough to hurt my opinion of this great game. A must have for under $5!
I have played it, I have it in my steam library, and I'm in the middle of it now. So you are controlling your minions (those goblin-like creatures), to help you do battle, open vase, jar, and crates, opening gate, etc. There are 4 different minions, the brown, red, blue, and green, each with different abilities. The red can put out fire, the green can destroy poisonous plant, and the blue can swim, and the brown is the original "vanilla" minion that you first get in the game. You are tasked to rebuild your castle, and collecting parts for your castle that are scattered through out the game level. In this game, You can kill people, or help them, your preference. So far so good and I think you might like it, so this is recommended!
A hidden gem, no seriously this is one of the best games I have ever played. The reasons? The minions obviously! They are just hilarious! My favorite part of them is the fact that they can loot equipment so you can have 50 brown fighter minions that look unique and barbaric. Did I mention that they have a hierarchy system too? The strongest minion (and probably your favorite) always goes next to the dark lord and the other line up behind him so at the furthest back you have those newly spawned grunts. You must be careful about the minions that you do care about because if they die they are gone forever. I once had my favorite minion who was wearing a golden crown which he looted from a fat hafling king get smashed by a succubus, oh god did I miss him!
This game is quite different to any other I've played. It's like an RPG in terms of view and quests but it's like RTS in that almost all of the combat/actions are done by your minions. You do very little fighting with the Overlord. It takes a bit of getting used to but it is quite fun. The story-telling is entertaining and overall the game has quite a light-hearted feel, despite the fact that you can kick the living daylights out of your minions whenever you feel like it. This game really is quite unique and definitely worth trying out.
