Finally good port of a great game.

The game that many players loved and also a lot of hated, especially on PC. The console port has received poor control and graphics from the PS2 era. Fans quickly took up the texture modification but the bad taste remained, as the problem with controls remained. Fans of the series have complained about the lack of a climate of horror known from the previous parts as this time we get bigger environment, somewhat similar to sandbox experience, the gameplay is also more of an arcade. as for the remaster, it's lot better than the original release, this version I recommend.

9+ Releases, and Still Kicking!

This review is specifically for the PC Ultimate HD release. At this point, most of you already have played Resident Evil 4. For some reason if you have been living under a rock and have not yet played this game, this is the definitive version to get. Graphics - 3/5 This release of the game promises enhanced graphics and framerates over the original console and clunky PC releases. I can say it does have improved textures here and there, but overall Capcom did not spend that much time on making the game look modern. If you are looking for something like a remake, then this game's graphics will certainly disappoint. Before you walk away just because of the graphics, there are genius modders from RE4HD that are working hard on retexturing the whole game and i gotta say, the results are amazing! Performance - 3/5 Despite the age of this game, not any hardware can run it. As I mentioned before, this game targets either 30 or 60 FPS. If your computer runs the game at any framerates in between those two numbers, the game will be in slow motion. This is a bug within the game's engine and it cannot be fixed. Make sure you have a decent graphics card before running the game with high resolution and 8x AA. Controls - 3/5 Since this game is targeted for PC gamers, you would think CAPCOM will optimize the mouse and keyboard controls before release right? Wrong, wrong , wrong. The game will feel extremely clunky if you decided to go with PC controls. Good news is that if you have an xbox controller lying around, this game supports it natively and it feels way better than using a mouse and keyboard. Gameplay - 5/5 It just never gets old. Resident evil 4 is one of those games you can play over and over again. Personally, I think might have beaten this game at least once a year. And here is the reason why. 1. The game offers a challenge but it does not make you pull your hair out. It encourages you to rethink your tactics and do things more efficiently. 2. Incremental upgrades that make you feel good and make you want to play more. At first, you feel like you're being cheated by the enemies, but over time you will get stronger and stronger. 3. Enemy and level design still beats even modern AAA games, enough said. Every moment in the game is a memorable moment. 4. Lastly, summing all those together, you get a nice game that does not feel short and does a nice job at killing time. I say the average playthrough for me is around 10 hours. To conclude, I give this game a 4/5. Despite having okay graphics and controls or even performance to some people, in the end, this game's gameplay justifies all those shortcomings.

Best of the Series

There are many series that has only one game i completed. For resident Evil, this title is the one. The other games are supposed to be classics, but for some reason, for me, this one just got everything right the others didn't. Granted, the others were of the survivor horror genre, and this one is more of a straight action game, with more shooting and enemies to shoot then in the first 3 games combined, and they are more vicious too. Zombies can be scary and all, but the infected here can actually throw axes at you, and that's just the beginning. The controls can be a little weird, and i recommend using a gamepad instead of the keyboard+mouse, it's actually easier to aim with that for some reason. Apart from that it's a very solid game.

Nice Joob Capcom ^-^/

Surprisingly this is the best port by far of Resident Evil 4. I have played from chapter 1 to the last, and so far I have encountered no bugs (the typicals so meh) and little to no fps drops. The textures look great in their 1080p format so you can expect a very smooth and pretty port from Capcom. Great Job Capcom!
