Saints Row started as a Grand Theft Auto competitor, and Saints Row 2 stands strong in the genre before the big change that Volition did after Saints Row 3. Saints Row still has those amazing character you know and love, funny story and interesting, but not going all goofy like Saints Row 3 and others. I think that the only bad thing about the game is the optimization is pretty bad, thou it can be fixed with mods and unofficial patches. The game is cool to keep you entertained for a while. Recommended.
This game is good the graphics the story but the thing that ruins the whole experience is the terrible port. Damn the port is so terrible you will need a mod that fixes the game. It is gentlemen of the row and it fixes and adds new stuff like more guns and buy a train if you want or a helicopter train. There is one bug that is fixable but it ruins the experience the game going way to fast. Yes the game can go fast but there are ways to fix it but trying to beat it like that is 99% impossible. It way too fast if the port was fixed than maybe some older pc can play but it gets a 3/5 great story great gameplay but the multiplayer is offline so I can't review that. So that my review at the game it is good but the port is extremely bad that somethings it crashes sometimes.
Seriously though, both Grand Theft Auto and Saints Row are great games that start out more similar to each other while GTA remains more on the serious side while Saints Row evolves more into a mixture of seriousness and humor. Saints Row 2 was the first of the Saints Row games I played and remained more serious compared to later entries of the series. The first thing I noticed about it though that unlike Grand Theft Auto, you get to create your own character no matter if you want male or female. This is a huge advantage over GTA in my opinion and helps make the games a little better. The humor in the later games though doesn't hurt as I tend to enjoy a good laugh more than so much seriousness. With pretty good graphics and a great story, it is a great place to start in the franchise.
Saints Row 2 is an amazing game. It has an engaging plot with lovable characters, and it is not as over the top as its sequels. The gameplay is great and is often compared San Andreas', although I would say it is probably a bit better. The game constantly encourages you to do side missions, which give you "respect points" which are needed to access the plot-related missions. They also unlock new outfits and weapons, which can be quite helpful while you fight to make the Third Street Saints the top gang of Stilwater once again. The game's plot is surprisingly good, considering it is an open world sandbox. The soundtrack is awesome as well, having the best and most varied selection of radio stations I have seen in any game of this genre. The voice acting is top notch, and the fact that dialogues change a bit depending on which voice you choose for your character adds some replayability However, it is all set back by what might be considered one of the worst PC ports in gaming history. The game lags quite a lot, there are framerate issues, the audio quality is terrible unless you mod the game, and even the performance mods do not work all the time. This might put off many players and make them miss out on a great experience. In conclusion, buy it full price only if you're willing to try and make it work properly with mods, which might not always work. It is worth giving a try, due to how fun the game despite its issues. Get it on sale if you are worried about the game not working properly or are not too interested in the genre
Although Saint's Row 2 is one of my favourite games, this PC conversion is the worst I've ever seen. Editing the powertool and installing gentleman the problem of speed is improved a little.
