The Bluecoats - North vs South is a remastered 1989 game that was based on the Les Tuniques Bleues/The Bluecoats comics, the game plays like a turn based game with mini games thrown in. You begin the game by choosing your side and then moving your armies on map to combat other armies, weather effects may prevent movement and reinforcements can show up on the map as you play. Surprise attacks from Indian and Mexican forces can also defeat your units. Connecting forts on the map will cause a train to deliver gold which can be used to purchase units, although trains can also be attacked by enemy forces if they have to pass through their territory which will start a minigame depending on what side you are on, this is done by either shooting enemies and dodging obstacles if you are attacking or by click on arrows to make your men jump on the enemy. Fort defenses are done by playing a point and click shooting mini game where you click on uncovered enemies attempting to shoot your soldier and duck for cover while you reload. Battles have you clicking on your infantry, calvary, and artillery and selecting enemy units to attack or moving them to the side to avoid enemy fire. You can choose the difficult of the enemy AI and change the year to play in, which will alter the map. The game has nice cartoonish visuals and updates the music and sound effects of the old games, it's a simple amusing game that can be worth playing thanks to the low price but the activities are very simple point and click activities that are likely to be too easy for most people, can be good for kids.
