Game description

This War of Mine: Anniversary Edition
This War of Mine:

Proof that content is better than flash

At first glance This War of Mine looks simple but nothing could be further from the truth. With it's simplified graphics This War of Mine relies mostly on fantastic storytelling and gripping situational drama to evoke a familiar yet dynamic experience each 24 hour cycle in the game. Separated into two segments (a day and a night) you must make decisions that determine the course of one or more people living together trying to make it through the hellish nightmare of a war torn area. Will you have enough food, medicine, materials, warmth, and strength to survive? Do you have enough compassion to share? Do you have the courage to find out?

The war game we desperately needed.

Caomhainn

The war game we desperately needed. You will have to make severe decisions which will not only impact your own life but also those around you. Developer: 11 Bit Studios Publisher: 11 Bit Studios Format: PC Released: November 14th, 2014 "I never thought I'd end up running and hiding from my buddies. But that's how things turned out. We were like brothers, and now I'm a dead man to them. My crew had ruled the hood since we were teens until just before the war. Then some of us got drafted, like my best friend Leon, others like me volunteered for the militia, it was going to be the ultimate showdown and every single one of us wanted a piece of the action" - Roman (Playable character) This is a game I've been waiting for so long. Usually when you hear someone mention war and games you automatically think about games like Call of Duty, Battlefield or Medal of Honor since those are the games we are used to. "Why isn't there any game out there where you don't run around guns blazing but actually have to survive war as a civilian?" That's what I was always thinking when I heared another Call of Duty or Battlefield hits the market. Then some time later I found This war of mine. Ever since that day I was really excited for it because that was exactly what I wanted. A game where you aren't the chosen one. Where you don't become a hero and save a nation or the whole world. You're also not a survival specialist. You're just a normal person caught in the shadow of war trying your very best every day and every night to survive. Where you actually have to think of every consequence. Do I go out tonight to gather some stuff? Who get's to eat and sleep? Should I give this shady looking guy shelter? You start the game with nothing of value. All you have are three civilians you have to take care off. After you got to know the character by reading their Biography you'll notice that some of the characters have some traits like Good Cook or Runner for example. That means that some characters are better suited for specific tasks and situations then others and it's up to you to find out how to exactly put the characters and their traits to good use. What really got me was the situation on Day 3. I had to decide whether or not I rob the house of an elderly couple. The moment I entered the house the husband was following me around, asking me what I'm doing, what I'm looking for and begged me to not hurt his ill wife. Needlessly to say I never thought that would bother me since we're used to such situation where we would actually rob this couple laughing... but it did. I felt terrible. I needed medicine since one of my characters got wounded at night when he was out scavenging and I didn't want to let him suffer and slowly die The old man basically asked me not to take to much since he needs it for his wife. Now I could decide. Whose life do I value more? The guy who went scavenging last night to get some resources and who really tries to help his group or the life of the old Lady I basically know nothing off. So I took the medicine. After I left the house and came back the bio of my character was updated and he actually felt sad that he had to do this in order to survive. Even the other two were torn whether or not he made the right decision and the woman in my group actually felt sad as well while the other guy supported his decision to take the medicine. There are several other instances that got to me like when I found an abandoned hospital and there were actual Doctors and Nurses which tried their best to help the people in need ... And I had to rob them in order for my group to survive. You encounter a lot of characters which are just in the need of help since they're also stuck in hell on earth that is war but you simply can't trust them at times. Also another positive aspect of the game is that you have to keep your characters warm and in good condition at all times if possible. Since it gets colder as the game progresses and the difficulty really increases once you reach winter. After I survived my first run I was a bit torn. I don't know how many people I screwed over in order for just one of my group to survive. We were four at some point War is hell. This game truly shows what war does to people.

Look at the war with a new perspective

ScarecrowReaper

The atmosphere of this game is very beautiful, and with the use of a dark and colorful environment, made to create a dead and airy atmosphere war for players. In fact, The game environment is full of details and looks great for an independent game. Game sounding is also acceptable, conversations are displayed above the top of each character, but they do not speak. The music played back in the background matches the game environment and helps to understand the tragic atmosphere of the game. It's interesting to know that the game does not follow a particular story process and its purpose is just and only to survive. If a member of a group is killed for any reason, then he will not be able to return to the game and you will lose him forever. This War of Mine gives the player the experience of the difficulty of the war. Of course not in the front line, but in the ruins of the city as a typical citizen.

This War of Mine Shows you the dark side of the wars

Ten_Credit

This War of Mine gives the player the experience of the difficulty of the war. Of course not in the front line, but in the ruins of the city as a typical citizen which I saw in fewer games. It's interesting to know that the game does not follow a particular story process and its purpose is just and only to survive. If a member of a group is killed for any reason, then he will not be able to return to the game and you will lose him forever. Unless you start the game from the beginning! However, sometimes people are found to join your group and fill out the rest of the members. The game will continue to the extent that all of the group's members will be eliminated, depending on how long you can keep members alive, and how you manage it. Definitely, this game can be called one of the best titles that has been released in its genre.

Truly unique experience.

gmgtochuje

This War of Mine is an ideal game which shows the faces of wars from the side of ordinary people. It is incredible that the game is capable of playing on our emotions. This is a completely different experience than if you were playing Battlefield or other Call of Duty, in which a player is a machine for killing and no-one cares that we just shattered the head of a friend just because he wore another uniform. Here is completely opposite. It is an absolute gem!
