Who would've thought playing a wildcatter would be this much fun? First off, it's more exciting than I expected of a strategy management sim. Trying to find the oil is big part of the fun, but so is mechanics of extracting it. You only lease the land that you drill on for a set period of time, and you have to make the most of it. Secondly, it gives insight to the economics of the business, especially around capital expenditures, new tech, and the fact that you're in a commodity business and there's little you can do but take the prevailing price if you're in a bind. I started it up today just to see what it was like. Ended up playing 7 hours before stopping. I'll be playing more. Yes I recommend. ;-)
This is the most satisfying oil game I've played! Casual, but it takes some skill setting up and expanding your operation. Drilling in search of oil has a great tension to it. "Is there more in this direction?" Also some interesting choices on the between-game upgrades, and figuring out when and how much of a loan to take. It feels like a real struggle to turn a profit early on, and feels great to finally pull everything together and strike it rich on a level. Good balance of luck and skill, relaxation and countdown stress. The graphics and graphic design are pretty good as well! Blows the pants off similar web games.
This is a very nicely made management game / simulator. The visuals are charming and graphics are vibrant and colourful. The art style is lovely. The music is well fitting to the game and nice to listen to. It creates a wonderful atmosphere. Basically it is an oil company management sim. The gameplay is simple yet very addicting, I couldn't stop playing. It is relaxing to play. The UI is well made and intuitive. The story, which takes place in 1899, is full of humor and jokes, and is interesting. The game updates regularly and with good content. The game is in Early Access, which means that there will be more new features with time. Overall, 9/10, a great new game worth checking out.
