Great fun, Completely zero stress game that has been very worth the wait since the kickstarter.

MakarovReaper

The game is silly and charming, It's a game style i haven't played since i was very young and its nice to see again, The game has more Pros than Cons (many of which i didn't write, i want to keep it simple) And the flaws it does have aren't even that bad, In no way does the game feel "outdated" It's just something different and a welcome change in my opinion. I played this game for roughly 25 hours (ish) and enjoyed it the whole time. It was worth every penny i paid for. I would give this game 8.5/10 Its by no means perfect, but no game ever is, And i do hope one day to see a Yooka Laylee 2

Fun! but...

vango003

This game is very colorful, the music really catchy, controls are a mixed bag.. Or maybe its the camera that I am forced to fight with that is screwing me over control wise, it tends to move in unexpected ways when doing the cartwheel move causing death more often than not. Not having full vertical camera control in a platformer is terrible design since I can see the platform I'm trying to land on.. death again... Its a good game with issues that I'm holding hope that will be patched up at some point

I think it was worth the long wait

DarkNight565

Yooka-Laylee is definitely a 3D platform game like the ones before. With tons of jumps, explorations, puzzles, mini-games, dozens of collectibles and lots of colourful and sympathetic, using the Banjo-Kazooie formula, a type of games that are no longer made. The structure of Yooka-Laylee I really liked. Here there are no maps or indications on the screen that tell us where to go, and the exploration plays a very important role, as well as the resolution of puzzles, which force us to observe the scenarios with attention. Of course there are jumps, we do not stop jumping since we started the game, but in the end you balance and you realise that there are no big and demanding sections of platforms, and rather find out what we should do in each situation, as if the Adventure out a huge riddle. I really liked this game, I think it was worth the long wait

Not bad, but so far average at best

Dave24

Kickstarter for this project turned out successful, because people expected a game as great as Rare on N64 was with platformers, be it Banjo games, Donkey Kong 64 or Conker's Bad Fur Day. It was supposed to be great return to the golden age of platformers, but it is incredibly disappointing. While the graphics are OK and not that bad, music is unmemorable, which is a shame, because it doesn't even sound like David Wise or Grant Kirkhope had anything to do with it. Worst offender though is the voicework and it is incredible to me how annoying they made it. It's not like in Zelda, where there is one or two "huh?" or "blabla" or anysound effect, instead it's a combination of 3 different sounds that are one second short in different tone. It's incredibly annoying and you can't turn it off, because if you will, you will have no sound effects at all. Controls feel incredibly floaty and slippery, camera is worse than in The Last Guardian, but thankfuly those issues can be fixed, so there is still hope. If it wouldn't be for those problem, the game could be somewhat enjoyable, because expanding stages by collecting Pagies (it's this game version of Mario 64 stars) that expand the stage. While story is pretty non-existent and some of the jokes are incredibly tired and feel like beating a dead horse (like jab at FPS), there are some fun moments, like character from really great indie game making significant cameo. If they will fix awkward controls, framerate drops, voiceovers (or rather "umpamp") and camera, this game could be good. For now you're better off waiting either for bigger discount or big patches, which we will hopefuly get.
