I was a huge fan of Civilization games but for me, Civilization VI turned out to be a huge disapointment. I was hoping for a polished successor of a Civilizaion V and what I got was a pretty much simplified game which would seem to be a worth successor but not for all people. As for me it was like going backward few steps. It's not a bad game and it allows you for more than the previous ones did but it didn't suit my taste. It was like a bit disapointing f2p strategy games. I felt that the devs forgot about something important about their games while they were making it. That cartoon graphic and simplified gameplay which in theory allowed you to do more but had its own flaws, forced me to turn it down. You should try it yourself when the price goes down because it is a bit different civilization than the other ones as it is a bit risky to buy it now, especially if you are in the minority that might dislike the game of that sort.
It's Civilization, so you know the drill - just tell your friends and loved ones that you're going to get it, since everyone on this planet, and probably even whole universe/all dimensions knows the more than real meme of "one more turn" and how one turn ends up with 50 hours sitting. However, there are some things that could be considered maybe a little... controversial. First would be art direction, which is really cartoony and some of them look like a punching bag and could get on your nerves for some reason - good example is leader of England, Victoria. I don't know what they were thinking. Second is sadly part of the course, and that is missing features from previous games to make money on DLC. Remember the word on the street about "civ without expansion is not civ"? For example, with 5th entry of the series, there were no religions, which felt like an insult. Here it doesn't feel as bad and at the same time it feels like rip-off, especially for the price they want for it. Missing feature would be for example no congress (which from what I remember didn't make it, because of DLC) and some of the leaders being available either with deluxe edition or for like 20 euro, like Poland which is actually in the intro of the game. Oh, and diplomacy being horrendously bad - I mean, other leaders can tell you to go away with, say, priests/apostols/missionares and not change their religion or else they will go to war with you. That sounds normal, BUT when THEY spam you with them and change religion in YOUR CIV you can't do anything, just sit there and take it. Also, you can't scold AI at all, but the enemy will scold you every turn, be it you're too good at the game and take too much land or even build more wonders than enemies. Diplomacy is one sided, to the advantage of AI. That is actually critical flaw of this game. And yet with something like that you're still coming back for some reason. And that reason is it's Civilization, and it's really hard to pass. Just like 5 felt butchered after 4 and improved with time, I hope this one will also improve with time and expansions. For now, it's love/hate relationship for me.
We have spent two decades building great wonders in the world of Civilization, and this new episode can only be qualified as such. It is a wonder. A fantastic strategy game by turn that honors the motto "one more turn and finish", preserving intact the great signs of identity of the franchise at the same time that brings important innovations that feel great. Once you try it, you no longer want to play something else. Such is the grandeur of a title that comes with a large golden crown under the arm. The king of strategy has returned with the intention of never leaving.
Extremely fun to play with friends, are you a warmonger? do you believe that your religion is the one and only one? do you want to became the richest person alive? then this game is for you, conquer the world while expanding your empire. This game has a lot going on so it can be overwhelming to newcomers, also games can be dragged for hours or even days so this is not "casual player friendly".
When starting off Cities Skylines I thought that the game would be another typical city builder with a mere simcity interface slap on it. The game proven that it has done many thing right the first time its come out and exceeded what sim city was however there is more work needed for the game especially in terms of the end game content. Overall the game itself is an exceptional city builder that everyone has to play if you enjoy this genre
