It's a chill and relaxing game made by Aldorlea, using RPG Maker. The combat is simple and not overly convoluted. The maps are very detailed and the game runs well. This game is very similar to turn based RPGs from the NES/SNES era. I recommend it if you liked games like the older Final Fantasys or Breath of Fire. It is fun to improve your equipment, skills, and characters. Check this game out when it is on sale.
Many of the game's selling points revolve around the amount of content within. You definitely could put triple digit hours into this game if you took the time to explore. However, it's set in a very bland and stereotypical world that's not that fun to explore. The combat is ok and the art is nice. It may be worth playing, but not worth investing the time that the creators would like.
I would recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the retro style RPG genre, but I am not sure if it is the game to change the minds of those who aren't Pros: +Nice visuals and soundtrack. +Many choices for party construction. +Battles are nicely done. +Humor and character development decent. +Multiple difficulty modes with choices on encounter rates. +Lots of optional side quests and hidden things to find. +The friendship dynamic is a nice touch. +Price tag fits the expectations. Cons: -A bit on the short side (wasn't 80 hours for me), story is about 20 hours of play. -Some of the side characters are incidental and do not fit the big picture as well as the others. -despite all the things the game got right, it didn't introduce anything that I could particularly call it's own, follows the general formula for this genre, so at the end of the day it doesn't stand out too much against the horde of other such games.
The game is a bit old but once you get used to it you will not stop playing, because there is so much to do and it is a pretty rare thing nowadays. It really is an initiation or at least I took it this way (I played in the easiest mode, as I usually do). Random and his friends are quite unordinary characters but they make for a refreshing change. A good intro to the Laxius Force series which I am going to play now.
This is an RPGMaker game, but don't for a minute let that put you off. This is sort of game is what RPGMaker was created for -- a deep, exciting tale with tons of combat variety to keep it interesting. The game is a visual delight and this is complemented masterfully by the wonderful music. Another important aspect of this game is its length, and the description's claim of "80 hours of playing" is no exaggeration. The main story is plenty long itself, and the side quests serve up a lot to sate the appetite of those keen to explore. Overall, this is a well polished game which any fan of old-school RPGs will adore.
