This game is an interesting reversal of the tower defense genre where you become the creeps trying to destroy the tower. Control-wise, I liked the mouse interface better than a keyboard one, and eventually mapped the entire control system to my mouse. It gave it kind of a minimalist fee, leaving more room just to enjoy the game. Graphics-wise it's stellar for a top-down scroller, with decent lower-quality modes for lower-end GPUs. The gameplay itself was unique and fun, with maps that require thought but can be attacked many different ways, integral power-ups that need to be rationed smartly, and several different types of towers all with a different weak spot. Overall Anomaly: Warzone Earth is a lot of fun for the price, and I'd recommend it to anyone who prefers careful strategy to simply mowing down the opposition.
Anomaly is a real pleasure of mine, I love tower defense games but the reversal to tower attack works surprisingly well and this series has become one of my favorite indie franchises, I really hope they'd continue it more. Basically you control a line of trucks that move along a path, which you control at intersections. Your job is to destroy the alien towers defending something, or just simply destroy them. The strategic depth here ramps up really nicely and in the end there's a lot to manage. You acquire bunch of different vehicles to your line all with their specialties, and you need to maneuver them to take out the enemy without your forces dying. Some enemies can turn, some can't but they fire devastating attacks in front of them, some do aoe and so on. It's simple with surprising amount of depth, and it works really well
A new modification of the classic tower defense game that works so well I don't know where to start from. Some call it reverse tower defense, others call it tower offense. The thing is, instead of the turrets trying to protect the core from every random TD game you are that line of enemies trying to get rid of it. You "control" your units and cross a city devastated by alien formed turrets completing your objectives, and I say "control" because you can't prevent them from moving forward, you can just set the route they will take. You have some different units which you can upgrade, and also some special powers as if this was a classic strategy game with some god game elements. Each unit is effective against different types of enemy turrets you will find, making this Anomaly Warzone Earth a brilliant strategy game at all levels.
You have to travel through an alien forces tower defense, you choose the path and composition of your convoy attempting to navigate through a warzone, you can choose which path youre going down. topdown view is done acceptably. storyline is meh. but its about the gameplay mechanics though. very fun to select which vehicles and what order andwhich ones to upgrade and the routes you must take. it can get very intense. a bit repetitive, so it's not a complete reverse of TD games in that sense of it. but thats my opinion. this game held my attention far longer than the average TD game, i'll give it that. if you like or love TD games, You'd do yourself a favor picking up this one.
