Battle Brothers is a turn based strategy RPG mix which has you leading a mercenary company in a gritty, low-power, medieval fantasy world. You decide where to go, whom to hire or to fight, what contracts to take and how to train and equip your men in a procedurally generated open world campaign. Do you have what it takes to lead them through bloody battles and to victory?
The game consists of a strategic worldmap and a tactical combat layer. On the worldmap you can freely travel in order to take contracts that earn you good coin, find places worth looting, enemies worth pursuing or towns to resupply and hire men at. This is also where you manage, level up and equip your Battle Brothers. Once you engage a hostile party the game will switch to a tactical map where the actual fighting takes place as detailed turn based combat.

All characters come with their own background stories and traits. Want a stuttering ratcatcher, a greedy witchhunter or a drunkard disowned noble?

Field up to 12 Battle Brothers on large and varied tactical combat maps with different terrain and multiple height levels.
Character development without a restrictive class-system. Each Battle Brother gains experience through combat, can level up and acquire powerful perks.
Equipment that matters. Different weapons grant unique skills – split shields with axes, stun enemies with maces, form a spearwall with spears or crush armor with a warhammer.
Diverse enemy roster. All enemies have unique equipment, skills and AI behavior.

Really well made mix of Darkest Dungeon, Jagged Alliance and XCOM in low fantasy world with reasonable learning curve. A must have for players who love to be punished for mistakes and forced to adapt quickly to various tactical conditions. Best served in Ironman mode to add this aditional weight to joices you make. Feels suprisingly complete for an early access title. 90/100 beacuse there's always a room for tweaking and adding more content. Nevertheless, it's great as it is.
Battle Brothers is a strategy RPG that puts you in charge of a mercenary company where you will recruit soldiers, decide what contracts to take, outfit your soldiers, and try to keep everyone alive as a death in battle will kill that character. When you start a new game a map is generated for you with different locations for settlements and terrain types. You start with a brief introduction and three characters with a trait of being the ones who started the company. Hiring more men will require you to pay their wages and different backgrounds of your hirelings may give them different positive or negative bonuses or might change some interactions during events. Your soldiers will level up in battles against humans, goblins, orcs, and the undead (each with different tactics, mechanics, and equipment) and you will be able to teach them new abilities and increase different passive skills. The graphics are simple but it's easy to understand how things work and the UI is the next thing that they plan to improve on. Battles take place on a hex grid where how you position your fighters and what weapons they are using is very important. The game may still be in early access but this is an early access title that people were able to enjoy from the beginning, and one that gets frequent excellent updates. A lot of content has been added since it released and the plans for the future should only make the game even better (main story, factions and reputation, more factions moving around the map with their own goals, etc).
This is a great strategy and RPG game. Even though it is in Early Access, it is highly polished, has a ton of content and the price is justified. The game is stable with no bugs. The mechanics are solid and fun and the game does not get repetitive or boring. The graphics are very finely created and the art style is awesome, as is the music and sound. You start with few mercenaries and the game is up to you to hire, kill and loot. The game is easily one of the best indie games. Defintely worth every penny, 10/10
