Cliched and boring stealth vampire game

The only real positive is that the game usually functions. Poor story with many boring generic vampire elements, like working with people who own a dance club. You start the game not believing that you are a vampire, being told that you are, and then your character is immediately fine with killing people for some reason. You are told you need to drink the blood of an old vampire (only a few decades in this game) because not drinking the blood of the person who turned you will cause your brain to deteriorate until you become a ghoul. Instead of asking for help, offering favors/money/etc, or going to meet these older vampires you immediately decide to break into their heavily defended buildings while killing their employees all in the hopes that the vampire will be there and that by killing them it will help you. Vampires are created by drinking the blood of people until they die, they are then revived as vampires but have memory loss, vampires aren't supposed to do this without permission because the confused revived vampires will become ghouls if they don't drink the blood of the vampire that killed them, and the ghouls/confused unsupervised vampire give away the existence of vampires. Of course, these older vampires have armies of ghouls that their human guards know about, also you drink the blood of human enemies until they die to power your abilities. Somehow the vampire power gained by the woman who helps you throughout the game was that she became better with technology. Terrible enemy AI, if alerted they might be unable to shoot you if you are on cover or if you move to close to them. Strange enemy guard positions that have them staring at each other forcing you to find the one path or guard that you can kill. Uninteresting powers, it lies about what powers do, upgrades can say that powers no longer make noise, but they can still be heard. You might go through an area killing everyone and leaving bodies everywhere, then when you come back new unsuspecting enemies are in the area and all the bodies are gone.

Pretty try, but...

Dark is a stealth game, and I, myself am kinda fan of this genre, but this game had much room for improvement. First the game is linear, way too much for stealth, which means you may have different skills and alternatives to solve a problem, but it limits your space to do it with style, or even the option to look at it from a different point of view. For the second mistake i'd vote for the skill tree. Even though it's nice, and for a game this 'short' (I'll get back to it later) it's enough, i don't like the idea to choose any of the abilities for the first time you get a skill point. Yeah, yeah they can be 'maxed out', but even so it feels somehow lame. The next one in my opinion would be the theme. I got the idea that Eric, the protagonist is a vampire, but why? I mean the setting is dark, you can suck blood but it doesn't add much it. For the other abilities you could be any comic figure, villain or hero. This leads us to well...from one point the main failure: the story. You are a vampire, and you have no idea how you became one, deal with it. In the end you get some explanation for that, but that one isn't elaborated either. I think anyone who plays it will have questions during and after the playthrough, which are never going to be answered. I could write even more about the deficiencies of Dark, but let's just leave it. I gave it quite a good rating, because there aren't much competitors of the genre especially on PC, and it gave me hours to enjoy despite the facts, I mentioned above. This one has nice graphics and had potential, and if you like stealth, you should try it once, but don't have high expectations (as I did ). Anyway I'd advise you to wait until it's on sale.

Hard and unforgiving stealth game.

This is a hard and unforgiving stealth game. If you don't like to sneak around and remain unseen, go play Prototype instead. I was hesitant to buy the game because of the poor reviews, and I went into the game without high expectations, but I'm enjoying the game very much (14 hours played at the time of writing) and really don't think the score of 42 % is fair to the game. There's not much RPG in it; you get to spend power points on skills now and then and that's about it. You can talk to just a few people, but the story is very straight forward so no choices to be made. This is just an action game :) I do enjoy sneaking around, observe the enemies and come up with my master plan to take them all out one by one. You have a couple of different skills you can use in order to do just that. If you mess up and raise an alarm, mostly it's the end for you. Like some other reviews have pointed out, combat in the open doesn't work very well, but I believe that's on purpose - you really are supposed to remain hidden in the dark. Even if sometimes you wish you could just go an a rampage and unleash those vampiric powers!

Stealth and action

i got this game from a friend, first i was not sure if i will play it, a lot of peoples told me its a bad game, but i though i try it at least out and that was good. Stealth and action is a big theme of this game, i started to try it in hard but honestly, its like all new games, hard is not realy hard. if you loved games like thief or old splinter cell games, i think this game will be a good option for you without Stealth you have not much change on this game because you dont have weapons to fight, you have to study the ways and secrets to master the levels. its a game only for peoples who realy enjoy games to play with time and not as fast as you can to finished it.

Dark - review

Dark is a game that makes stealth its only purpose, but it does wrong. It does not leave the player to other alternatives, enclosing him without cause in constrictive environments, and giving very few tools to solve situations. Monotony and repetitiveness you are quick off the already after the first of the five / six hours required to complete the adventure. The protagonist has been turned into a vampire, and now, to complete the transformation before turning into a Ghoul must drink the blood of its "creator." The concept is very simple: the progression follows the main traits of a stealth game with some sprinkling of classic RPG. Eric will have to act silently, using a variety of skills, gaining experience by killing enemies. The gameplay, however, is limited and repetitive. The sensation is that of never having total control of the situation, having to entrust to chance or to be forced to take advantage of the bad programming of artificial intelligence. In addition to poverty patterns patrol, in fact, the enemies (always the same throughout the adventure) show total idiocy especially when it's time to eliminate us.
