Game description

"I loved the fact that the characters know how to hide behind corners, pop out to shoot and then return to cover immediately, and the fact that you have to calm your hand for some time before you can fire a sniper-shot." - Actiontrip.com

The Story:

El Paso, a typical Wild West town in the southwestern United States near the Mexican border. It is the year 1881. For the last few months, the trains belonging to the famous railroad company, Twinnings & Co have been the target of a whole series of hold-ups and ambushes. The management of the company has decided enough is enough and they have to put an end to the raids. It has offered a reward of $15,000 for anyone who captures the leader of the gang responsible.

But no one in and around El Paso has the courage to take on the might of the bandidos, so the outlaws just keep on robbing train after train. Even the local Marshal is keeping well out of it.

It’s only when a stranger rides into town that things start to change. Bounty hunter John Cooper pays a visit to the local Twinnings & Co manager offering to end the railroad company’s problems once and for all. Are you a patient person?

Do you mind spending time with small details? Are you more into setting perfect strategy than quick action? If you answer yes to theses questions, then you probably love this game. With beautiful graphics amid a fascinating setting of the Old West, this game challenges you to overcome difficult odds to complete every mission. This game is not easy. One small mistake and your going to "Boot Hill". Yet, if you are willing to explore every possibility, and set a well-planned strategy, you will be rewarded with a great gaming experience. If strategy games are your "thing", the you owe it to yourself to get this game. If you are not a patient person, and prefer quicker gameplay, you might want to stay far away from this game.

An excellent western strategy game

Desperados Wanted Dead or Alive is an excellent strategy game in the style of the Commandos series or Robin Hood The Legend of Sherwood. John Cooper is a bounty hunter who has taken a new job and begins the game attempting to find three of his old friends to help him, he finds each of them when they are in trouble and they join him in return for his help. You later acquire two additional companions. Each of the game's six characters has a different weapon and different abilities and equipment, you might have a stronger character who can carry heavier objects, someone who can seduce enemies, poison enemies, throw a knife for a silent attack, use a gun as a sniper rifle, tie up unconscious enemies, etc. Each mission will require to complete different objectives while using a combination of stealth and brute force to get through it. There are some fun additions to the game for a player that wants to try a more action oriented approach such as rolling out of cover and taking shots at enemies, marking enemies to shoot after activating a command to quick draw your gun, or even jumping out of a window and landing on the back of a waiting horse. Very fun game with a lengthy campaign, easily worth the price.

Best strategy game I ever play

I've played this game since I was 6, meaning 10 years ago on my cousin computer. At that time, I don't really know how to play, just simply backstab and shoot everyone I can't backstab. It was really fun, the only problem is I didn't know how to do the mission. Yesterday, my friends gift me this game on steam. It was awesome, the characters are strong in their own jobs, and the enemies can be stupid sometimes, but due to their large quantities, it's hard to play without strategy. The penalty of being discovered is very high, often reward in death of the character, whick make the game very interesting. I'd love to recommend for this game.

A Western Commandos

You can think of a Desperados as a western version of Commandos, a tactical isometric game where you control a selection of characters as you would in a real time strategy game, but each character is individual, with specific abilities and items. Despite being an older title it holds up well with a graphical style and music, each character has a range of actions available to them, often allowing for multiple ways to tackle a problem, whether it be shooting your way through bad guys or being sneaky about it. The missions have a decent amount of variety, both in objectives and style, making you utilise everything at your disposal. Not an easy game, and one that you can easily spend hours on, analysing patrol routes of guards and their vision cones in order to setup the perfect escape, highly recommended! :)

Commandos in the Wild West

If you have ever played Commandos, this game is very similiar by its concept to this game. The main character is called John Cooper and as he goes, he takes other members to his group. Every member of the group has unique abilities that you have to learn and use on your way through the story. Desperados is like interactive film. This game doesn't have multiplayer and because of this genre, it doesn't need it. Desperados = Commandos + Wild Wild West. If you love this combination, this game is for you. If you love tactic, you will love it anyway.
