I'd actually go as far as to say it's the best incarnation of Gauntlet yet. Great fun with three friends, Gauntlet boasts a ton of replayability, there's a nice variation of useful weapons and items to unlock for each character as well as a whole bunch of aesthetic goodies including a daily challenge to unlock new cloaks. The combat is surprisingly deep, both the Valkyrie and warrior play in a typically hack and slash style with the warrior boasting more health and brutal offensive capabilities while the valkyrie has a slightly more tactical, defensive style. The elf plays completely differently to both however, utilizing twin stick shooter style controls and a nice array of tricks and traps, but it's the wizard that steals the show for me. Three of his attack buttons represent three elements that can be mixed and matched to create nine different spell effects similar to the spell system in Magicka (another great Arrowhead game) to begin with this spell system seems complex but once you master the intricacies of how to cast on the fly the wizard becomes incredibly powerful, utilizing both crowd control and damage dealing to the party's benefit. My only gripe with the game and it is a very small one is that the campaign is somewhat short, however thanks to Gauntlet's pick up and play nature it boasts a ton of replayability, especially if you have three friends who are interested in some arcade, dungeon delving. Definitely worth a purchase, don't overlook this arcade gem and if you enjoy it then it's worth looking into Arrowhead's online co-op twin stick shooter Helldivers as they're both quite similar and definitely well worth owning.
Game is really fun and really looks beautiful. Characters are very easy to play but the Wizard might take a while to getting used to. Playing it with friends makes it even funner because of the mix feeling of frustration and laughter whether you are trying to survive alone waiting for them to respawn or vice-versa. The game looks nice graphically but somehow my friend's laptop that can run other slightly more demanding games (seems like it) is having hard time running the game so I guess its not as optimised as it should be. The levels are pretty tough to beat though but I guess its just me. One thing I am not a fan of this is that there aren't any checkpoints. While its rare that all 4 characters would die... its still tiring to get back to the very beginning of the level once all 4 dies. Not a big game changer but it'd be nice to get past the level you're in already.
