Hippocampal is a satiric contemplative game.
Satiric because we are mocking the hero, game characters, movies, comic books and video games we liked. And also the ones you like. Basically everything that tells you to be what you do not want to be.
Contemplative because you just have to walk through this world to understand how it works.
You are an astronaut (M.kurt.C) taking some time off in orbit, enjoying your holidays, when suddenly from out of nowhere monsters crash into you and send you back to earth… What are you going to do? Take revenge for this cosmic attack? Find ways to keep relaxing? Prevent those creatures from attacking earth? It all depends on the trauma of the crash, right?
This is a game not everyone will like. In any case, I realized this after reading reviews for the game. In fact, I do not understand why so many negative reviews, because the game is not bad, especially when you look at the price. I really like the originality, art style and the managment system implemented in the game. It has its share of flaws but all in all, it is quite original.
The developers state it's a satirical game. From what I can tell, there's not enough here to judge as serious or satirical. You're just an astronaut on a beach. You can walk around and find things to do, even ways to try to stop the cosmic entities that marooned you from attacking Earth. however, there's no way I could care enough to figure that out. It's boring and confusing.
