A bit above average, but not remarkable enough

A pretty fun shooter. Don't expect a masterpiece, but it's nowhere near as bad as critics claim it to be. Most gunfights are quite fast paced and satisfying, and that's what FPS games are all about. The control and handling is smooth, and most weapons are very fun to use. Graphics might've aged by now, but they do a decent enough of a job to make a believable sci-fi setting and to make you feel like you're in it. The game spans 10 story chapters. The first few levels have you fighting and arresting the perps, and the latter levels are more trigger happy and mostly have you fighting hordes of zombies and vampires. Some of the levels are done really well (The Docks, The Lab, The Hospital, The Undercity), whilst a few others were more of an annoyance than anything (The Training, The Smokatorium). The training level should've been completely optional and isn't a very interesting way to introduce new players to the game. However, if you can stomach it, the game really picks up from there. There isn't much of a story here. The dark judges escape and you spend most of the game hunting each one down. The boss fights were somewhat disappointing. 3 of the 4 of them simply involved you walking around the level and pressing switches, and only one of them was an actual full-on battle where you had to shoot the baddie down. Having said that, most FPS games tend to have very badly done boss fights, so wouldn't be fair to single out this game specifically. The game also contains some arcade levels, but they lose their appeal very fast as you realise most of them is just you vs a big group of enemies with too little health. The (5-6 hour) story campaign is the only reason to play this game really, so if you're up for some fun sci-fi gunfights, you should have a good time playing this game.

Arrested development for I am the law!

I love playing this game that gives you the insight of being a Judge. I really like the fact that it is simple, and you can arrest EVERYBODY. The A.i. is a tad iffy, but the enemies and the combat is truly a fun experience. This is a must have game, and for the cheap price it is worth more that it's being sold. I would prefer more of the open world rather than the confines of the maps, as well as more variety. But since this is in fact an older game, the kinks in its armor are what makes it unique.

It aged bad...

There are games that can be called classic when even with double digit number of years that came out are still playable, enjoyable to the fullest, and build decent fan base that are connected together forever. Sadly, Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death is not that kind of game. I remember it was much better when I played it first time. Now, when I try to play it again, it have many annoying issues and just doesn't feel right. I'm fan of old games but it isn't same like it was in 2003 (it was released much earlier than is said on website). Maybe if you never played it and also love old games, you can give it a try. Also hard Judge Dredd fans might enjoy this game but otherwise don't try it. You will be only disappointed.

Generic shooter

If you are looking for a quick shooting game where you just gun down bad guys then this is the game right here. This game offers nothing else besides the fact that you can aimlessly kill of the entire enemy factions without breaking a sweat. The game set in a really colorful world that fans of Dredd might like but that is all. The game is a very generic shooter where you just run and gun through the entire map until you reach to the next one where you do the same thing. The multiplayer aspect, if it is still alive, hosts the same generic modes that you can find in other shooting games. If you are a Dredd fans then give this a shot, if not, you might want to look else where for a quality shooter.

Be the law for a day

Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death is directly made from 2000 AD popular and long running comic book series. The graphic style and the characters are more closer to they comic book one, then the movies will ever have. I finished Judge Dredd more then most of my favorite games, if you fan of Dredd you must feel the same way. The game only negative is it's length. Can be beaten around 5-6 hours and sadly the multiplayer and co-op are long dead. But there's action mode, which more like a challenge room/survivor type of maps. The game sets in Mega City One at the third decade of the 22nd century, you play Judge Dredd the most toughest and stone cold judge. You will face punks, gangs, cultist, vampires, zombies, mad scientist and of course the Dark Judges. You also meet friendly faces, like Chief Judge Hershey and Cassandra Anderson from the PSI Division. In co-op mode your partner will be Rico. The gameplay is simple, you must arrest perps and uphold the law. That means you can't go rogue and kill innocents, if you do other judges come to hunt you down. You can use the classic Lawgiver pistol and all of it's ammo type. You can use alternate weapons taken from enemies and specific judge weapons a shotgun and a machine gun, which can be transformed to a sniper with a single mouse click. And you can throw some smoke grenade to neutralize enemies. You can even challenge them by taunting the enemies. That's the funniest thing, if you sneak behind a perp and challenge him you can spook him enough he will drop his weapon and surrender. When you arrest someone you will see the perp ID, guilt and sentence. The game graphics and it's style totally reflects the comic book. So it's dark, satirical and bloody, very bloody. Certain environment design could used a bit more polished, but it fits to Judge Dredd world perfectly. The voice-acting is quite good, especially Dredd voice. Sounds the music are good. If you're a fan of Judge Dredd you can't miss this game! If yo usaw the Sylvester Stallone movie or the new one you must buy this game.
