A good romp alone, even better with a friend!

Before this game we were used to Lara's adventures from a 3rd person perspective. And games they were, minus some missteps in the series. This game takes a different approach, giving Lara an isometric perspective and a friend. Because of the new viewpoint the environment does not seem as huge or as interactive and alive, more like a basic dungeon crawler setting. This is not a bad thing, really, because Lara does well in this genre too. The enemies are challenging enough, there are multiple ways to traverse the environment and of course you are raiding after ancient artefacts. I tried the game only with a controller and I didn't have any problems with it. Surprisingly, I would compare this game to Bastion in that the setting is interesting and beautiful and the protagonist is likable. I enjoyed it.

Lara doesn't raid alone anymore...

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is a fun isometric action-adventure puzzle shooter. It plays very differently from other Tomb Raider games, the story isn't really worth talking about (i.e. cookie-cutter) and depth and immersive nature from the main series is gone, but otherwise this is a very enjoyable, well-made game. It features a good variety of puzzles (some of which can be challenging, especially in co-op mode), lots of pretty easy-to-kill enemies and interesting bosses, nice visual design and a strong sense of control. The music is recycled from the Crystal Dynamics trilogy, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Of particular note are the various challenges present in the game, which add tons of playtime and replayabilty value, some of the levels requiring multiple playthroughs for total completion. Overall, I recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun, simple, sometimes challenging experience, especially if there is the possibility of playing with a friend - the co-op is even better than the single-player mode, and it is the way in which the game was intended to be played.

Real Action & Puzzles!

I never thought I would see the day when a tomb raider game turn out to be co op, but it happened (tho is not called tomb raider hm..) and i'm glad it did.. the co op features feel very well made, and even if you decide to play it alone because you hate human company, that's fine, you can totally do that and have the same amount of fun you would have if you play it cooperatively. The history ain't great, but it holds up good enough for make you wonder how will be the ending. Now, regarding gameplay, while the camera got changed from your regular 3rd person view, the top view kinda like diablo, league of legends, dota, etc. it works very well, and again, for what the game is, the graphics are superb, I was amaze for the amount of detail this game has. Also, while the gameplay might feel and look arcady it wont put you a part from puzzles, you will have to think for move forward and if you can't solve it.. well google it up (I guess? no shame in asking google stuffs.... right?) You will also encounter bosses, and those fights will feel EPIC. So, in short, you will have an incredible experience either you play it alone or in company, the game worth full price, and I can't really find any flaws within the game itself so... 100/100 it's an unique game, and is worth full price. Have Fun!

Different approach at Tomb Raiding.

Guadian of Light is an isometric 3D shooter, loaded with enemies, and puzzles. Puzzles are the thing that will stop you in your tracks. Enemies are fairly easy to take on. As many people mention - Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is very fun in coop. But if you don't have anyone to play with, it is still pretty good. There are unlocks and character improvements, a.k.a. leveling up. Combat is easy to master. Platforming elements can be tricky if you don't have a controller. Playing with mouse+keyboard combo is 100% doable, but sometimes you'll want that fine touch that a controller would give in such a game.

Lara Does Diablo Surprisingly Well.

While not the best game in the world, this is a very good Diablo-esque dngeon crawler. Thinking about it, dungeon crawlers seem well suited to the franchise. The combat is different than most Diablo clones, since you're just a really skilled person as opposed a wizard or templar. That's part of why it works, it feels fresh even though it takes heavily after a very repeated formula. it's not stellar, but it's well worth playing,
