This game is definitely GOTY for when it came. It ran like a beast on pc and the story was great. At first I thought the game-play would be sub-par, but thank god I was wrong. Even though this game is a bit old, it will for sure survive the test of time.
Great game but I would accept it better if it was NOT situated in middle earth universe.Probably it is a problem for me only. The wargs were replaced by some strange cats . Trolls were replaced by some giant horny things. There some little inconsistencies with the lord of the rings and silmarillion books.... Catches in a some degree the atmosphere of the movies , which I suppose is a praise. Anyway the game is great.Of course the main selling point is the nemesis system - I'm surprised how good it works - there are enough recorded dialogs, the orcs are very diverse. Parkour is a little bit clumsy , but is doing it's job. Fighting systems makes you feel really powerful. And the world is open enough (oh how I love open world games). Worth buying even only because of the nemesis system - there's still no other game offering something similar.
if you're not familiar with the game it looks like "Batman Arkham City" and "Assassin Creed". pros: the ambience is good, you can just spend hours walking through the beautiful nature they created! stealth kills are fun to do! captain enemy killing system!!(should play to see what i'm talking about) great narrative cons: long time to spent reading instruction does not have the best story side quest are the weakness of this game and that's because its all the same all over again and repeats! game-play problems! to be honest you will NOT be disappointed !!
Shadow of Mordor is a third person action RPG that takes place in Middle Earth. Right off the bat this is probably the best game set in Middle Earth I have ever played. But of course that means nothing since you have no idea what Middle Earth games I have played. So is Shadow of Mordor worth your money? Let's find out. Graphically speaking this game is beautiful even a few years down the road. Maxed out with the HD texturepack even moreso, but i experienced some random stuttering on my high-end system which I believe was caused by that texture pack. It may be in the base game without the texture pack though, so be warned that this game might not be the easiest to run. The voices of the orcs are gritty and true to their nature and the acting behind every voice in the game is top notch. Sound effects are done well. I have zero complains in the audio department. Overall I did still love what I got, even if I didn't get much. Shadow of Mordor is really solid on everything it does, but it unfortunately doesn't try to do too much. It gets a 7/10 from me. It?s a good game, but the length of its story and the sheer amount of garbage miscellaneous content that only appeals to completionists drags it down a whole lot. It certainly succeeded in its likely goal however. It got me excited as ever for Shadow of War. I do recommend Shadow of Mordor as a game, but only if you're willing to look at it as the proof of concept it is. This is no full game. This is the prequel what is hopefully the full upcoming title, Shadow of War. At its current $20 price I only recommend it if you're a completionist. Otherwise get it on a sale with the GOTY upgrade edition which comes with 2 story DLCs to help lengthen your playtime. But beware. The beast master DLC is filled with overpowered exploding crossbow bolts that can kill you in two burst fires and have zero friendly fire on the orc shooting them AND can be shot point blank. The Bright Lord DLC? Well, it has its own glitches. Audio glitches.
If you Love gore this is the game for you. Middle earth shadow of mordor is a brilliantly designed game that demonstrates the hack and slash genre. In my personal opinion the gore is the best part of the as well as how every Uruk that kills you can become a captain. I think the way that an Uruk can become an captain is really cool because they all can have different type of attire. I like for Uruks to kill me so I can see what they look like, and if they don't look cool I kill them. I just love how you can chop off heads. The graphics are just beautiful too, even if you don't have a high powered PC. Overall the game is so Beautiful and you should not think twice about getting it, because you will fall in love with it just like I did and I rate Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor a 10/10, because of it's graphics, gameplay, story, and open world components.
