As you know, Moonchild is the newest game from popular 'Aldorlea game' company and it was exactly what you expect from an JRPG game. Its gameplay is fun and has likeable characters, also you can find some kind of emotion feel in this game which less can be found in RPG genre. Now with this Deluxe Edition, you can get the ultimate experience from this game.
The first thing you notice is the gorgeous environments, then the ugly sprites. next is the neat characters and the bland story, the complex combat but the dull and tedious overworld. For every cool thing in this game, there's an equally poor negative. With some time, it could become a fine series, but as-is, it's a disappointing mish-mash of ideas with random results.
Mooonchild seems to be just another RPG Maker game, but don't be fooled by its appearances. It's a very good game, with interesting storyline and decent gameplay. It tells a story of a mother who attempts to rescue her abducted child. With good dialogues and interesting plot twists, it's a must-play for people who want something else from their role playing games than just hacking and slashing at enemies. Of course the visual side of the game could (and probably should) be so much better, but even with the simple RPG Maker style graphics, it's at least acceptable. Probably more mature gamers will appreciate this game, and less mature ones will skip it and choose something action-packed instead.
Aldorlea Games are the devs that keep the roots intact when it comes to the RPG. Their games are reminiscent of the late 80's / early 90's era where the RPG dominated the market and Moonchild is one of the (many) forgotten lovechild from these times. The story is the cliche'd tale of a kidnapped royalty but then again when broken down to its simplest form, almost all RPG storylines are cliche'd. As true to their nature, Moonchild does a great job in story telling and the vibrant colours of the 64-bit style visuals does wonders to draw you in, even in this day and age. For the niche'd fans of Aldorlea, this is one of the must-plays from their collection and should this ever go on sale, do not hesitate to pick it up. Even at full price, the story alone is worth it for fans of ye ol' RPG.
