While Runestone Keeper does a lot of roguelike elements right it cannot be forgiven what it does wrong, especially not in such a genre. Random generation of levels works perfect, the game features loads of enemies and items making each playthrough very different and giving crazy amounts of replayability, it offers great challenge, looks and plays well - then why would I not recommend it? Three letters. RNG. RNG to some extent is welcome in roguelikes - you want random levels and loot to have unique playthroughs. But at the other hand you also want your skill, strategy, planning to matter as well. Here it does not. Everything is so heavily RNG based that the game basically becomes a glorified dice roll. No matter your items, strategy, skill - you can die in one hit or one trap because of bad dice roll. It's extremely frustrating and totally destroy all the fun in otherwise great game.
