Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion

I have always enjoyed strategy games, and Rebellion really takes it to the next level. I found it to be extremely difficult at first to know what was going on. The interface and amount of things going on at one time can really get overwhelming. However, the best part of the game is the massive fleet battles you can have. It gets really intense when there are literally hundreds of ships going at it over one planet. Overall, it is a really fun game with some great mechanics and game play, but if you aren't an RTS fan, you probably will not like this game.

I remember how excited I was when this game came out, after enjoying the original and Trinity so much before it. This game takes the original formula and adds quite a bit more to it, most notably the titans and that's not a bad thing. This game has incredibly unique gameplay for it's genre, and I could most certainly say it's the first of its kind. I've always enjoyed strategy games but for me they always reached a point of pretentiousness for me where the winner is the first person to perform a per-determined set of actions and strategy seems nullified. I never get that feeling from this game, simply because of how long it can take to even find your enemies, so you're free to decide the strategy of your empire. As unforgiving as this game may be to mistakes at first, you'll come to realize they don't instantly lose you the game, it is possible to make epic comebacks here by just learning from your experiences. You can also play large teams and simulate gigantic space battles and though it may make even the best PCs cry it's always a wonderful experience. If you're a fan of RTS and want to try something new then get right on this one!

I really love this game. It has spaceships, they fight eachother, glorious explosion fill the screen as massive super-cap and titans meet in epic warfare whilst floating around in space with said exploded ships. Honestly, it reminds me a lot of EvE online, and since i dont' have the time to dedicate to that this really filled my space fix. I really appreciate that you can speed up time (not a true RTS, but i much prefer it this way). There is a fair amount of strategy involved with base fortification, specilization of ships, a pretty in-depth research process for aquiring new ship designs and building modifications, the influence of culture on a planet's alignment, allianced and bounty hunters, there is really a lot to do. I haven't had a chance to play online yet as the online community is fairly small and close-knit, but the solo missions are plenty entertaining for me and i often find myself unable to stop playing until have completely eradicated my enemy from the galaxy.

This is the ultimate space RTS out there and is highly addictive. There are so many features to this game, such as diplomacy, extensive research tress, exploration on a 4x scale and much more. It handles brilliantly and quality both graphical and audio are perfect. The only concern is the multiplayer base, as it seems very small for quite a popular RTS game, but playing it single player is amazing, as what I think many people do. There is no set story as it is mainly a game in which, after you the tutorial, just dive in. Overall it is a great game and I highly recommend buying it for the great content the game has to deliver. By the way, a good intense game can take about 4 hours, since it is just that big.

Why do I say that ? Besides the graphics which are really good, the game is really well optimized and the game doesn't require a NASA computer to run. Even with a poor internet connection it's still possible to join games online. I don't pretend there isn't any freeze or lag online, but there is only few times where it happens. On a gameplay side, you have to select one of the three races, then an allegiance (rebel or loyalist) each sides have its own way to be played. Then you will have to create an empire. And that's where SoaSE is great. Even if the military option is the more common, it is possible to win thanks to diplomacy or even by spreading your culture accross the systems. And that's why I love this game, dipomatic aspect is by far one of the best for an RTS game. Here there is no "ally or enemy", in this game your can be neutral, you often star neutral and you have to gain the trust of other faction in order to offer "cease fire", "alliance" or even pacts that will help you and your ally. There is also an economy within the game. You can buy or sell ressources but the market follow the offer and demand logic, if you sell too much metal for example, metal price will crash down. Pirates (if activated) will also regularly raid the faction which as the highest bounty on it creating tension within the game. Sins of shines thanks to those many aspect that create a great playing experience and I definitly recommand this game to any RTS fan.
