Game description

In Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity, you are the leader of a civilization embroiled in a galactic war, fighting for the survival of your entire race against relentless foes. Your success will depend entirely on your ability to manage your empire and command your vast fleets of starships to victory.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity is a “RT4X” game, blending the epic strategy and empire management of the 4X genre (Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate) with the fast-paced and tactical elements of real-times strategy.

Key Features:

  • Explore the epic scale of a dynamic 3D galaxy featuring planets, asteroids, plasma storms, stars and more.

  • Take on multiple roles as you seamlessly transition between the role of emperor and fleet commander using Sins’ unique strategic zoom.

  • Extensive diplomatic and economic strategies are yours to wield to your advantage. Forge alliances, establish powerful pacts with allies to open up new bonuses, setup trade between empires and use pirates to take out over-powered tyrants.

  • Fight epic battles with hundreds of ships on-screen at once, with up to 10,000 particles firing off in full-out combat.

  • Seamless zoom in and out, from looking at a one-man fighter to viewing your entire empire spanning billions of kilometers of space.

  • Defend your worlds by constructing massive starbases, deploying deadly minefields, and researching advanced defensive technologies.

  • Create strong alliances and gain powerful pact bonuses using the all new diplomacy system.

  • Bribe or hire pirates to wipe out your opponents, but beware, the pirates gain strength over time and can also be used against you!

  • Play online with up to 10 friends via Ironclad Online.

Still worth it in my opinion

The good parts of this game are many, tech trees, diplomacy, ships and variety. Well balanced overall. The bad part of this game is the lag in longer games. Having a modern rig with an i5, 16GB 2400mhz memory and a SSD should allow for little to no lag. However, I have not encountered a PC that does not experience lag in a long game. This does not make it unplayable on enexpensive equipment, the lag is about the same all around ( I have to assume it is something to do with the code handling as many ships and structures as tend to be present in 4+ player games after 2 hours play ). the solution, play small games and don't aim for the 6 hour massive conquest game that this game so readily invites. If you do ( and you will ) expect some lag / hangs.

A pirate raid is inevitable

This game is pretty great. I could stop there, and would feel I summed up my feelings pretty well, but let's press on. SoaSE is a pretty great 4X space game with multiplayer. During a game, you'll make and break deals with the other players, secretly put a bounty on their heads, and have gigantic clashes with fleets of ships. Getting into those big fleet battles and zooming all the way in is pretty great, as well. You get gigantic capital ships slugging it out while hordes of fighters and bombers zip back and forth in a huge display of lasers and explosions. I've been a fan since the initial release and plan on following this series as long as it goes.

Awesome Space Game!

Probably the 1st space game that I tried.. and still I'm in love with it.. In this game you can fight with lots of units and the map is huge.. I usually play on the small to medium maps, even then it will take hours to complete it.. The new one, SOTSE Rebellion is also an awesome game. Same game as this one but with additional contents.. A must play game if u love space game..

Impressive space battles, and more

There have been quite many new additions to the so-called "4X" genre, many of them being space strategies. And even if Sins of the Solar Empire: Trinity is not the most innovative, it surely is among the best looking ones! In fact trying to find any element that it might be missing is hardly possible. It seems to have everything a good space strategy needs, yet some more hardcore strategists prefer more complex (or micro-management oriented) games. If you care more about the grand strategy and love visually impressive spce battles, SotS: Trinity may be your preferred choice! I cannot think of any other space strategy in which battles are so pleasing to the player's eyes. And still it's not only a space combat game, but it has all the elements of 4X strategy: diplomacy, exploration, economy, and grand military plans. If you want your strategy games to look good, try Sins of the Solar Empire: Trinity.
