Back 4 Blood Zombie Types

After a few successful betas, it’s safe to say that many people are excited for the upcoming release of Back 4 Blood. A spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead, this FPS that will see players smashing and shooting their way through hordes of the undead. But what exactly will we be facing off against? Alongside your standard Back 4 Blood zombie types are several special infected with a few variants within each Ridden “family”. Let’s take a closer look at them.

Snitcher

Back 4 Blood Zombies - Snitcher

As the name might suggest the Snitcher is a zombie that will alert hordes to player locations. If you don’t deal with the Snitcher quickly enough then they will let out an ear-piercing scream that will bring the masses to your location. Not ideal. Alternatively, you can sneak around them if you’re taking a stealthier approach.

Reeker

Back 4 Blood Zombies - Reeker

This big ol’ meaty barrel of acidic undeadness is also known as the Retch or Exploder. Capable of spitting acid on players which will attract other zombies, the Reeker can be a tough opponent. They have a fair amount of health and when taken out can explode, showering the area with more acid bile and thus attracting more zombies

Stinger

Back 4 Blood Zombies - Stinger

What has four thumbs and spits goo at you? The Stinger – or Stalker/Hocker, if you will. This abomination is a tricksy little thing. Clinging to walls and lurking in dark corners, the Stinger is a highly mobile beast that can pin you to the floor with its projectile spitting attack. If you get caught by the spit, you’ll be pinned down and unable to defend yourself until a friend frees you. If you listen carefully, you’ll be able to hear them coughing which might just give you the window you need to quickly take them down before they strike. Thankfully, a Stinger doesn’t have much health. If you can hit them, they will go down quickly.

Bruiser

Back 4 Blood Zombies - Bruiser

This Back 4 Blood zombie type comes in a few other forms known as Crusher and Tallboy. It likes to get up close and personal to try and smash you with its huge, muscley arm. Keeping it at a distance is your best bet. Furthermore, the Bruiser has a weak point on its shoulder (the muscley one, not the puny one). If hit enough you will literally disarm it, making this Ridden much less of a threat.

Breaker

Back 4 Blood Zombies - Breaker

The Breaker zombie type is a hulking heap of muscle like the Tanks from Left 4 Dead. They slam on the ground creating shockwaves that will damage and knock players back. You want to keep away from these as much as possible.

Ogre

Back 4 Blood Zombies - Ogre

Ogres are hard to miss; they’re about 20 feet tall and pack a punch. With a huge amount of health and the ability to throw objects at you, you’re going to need to team up and tackle this thing all at once. Aiming for the glowing weak spots on the Ogres body will go a long way towards helping you deal with it. The Ogre is also capable of health regeneration, so if you don’t pay enough attention to it then it could just get back to full health.

It’s a good job you’ll have lots of guns and weapons to take on these Back 4 Blood zombie types, not to mention the hordes they bring with them! Back 4 Blood releases on 12th October 2021.
