Overwatch has been going strong for 5 years now and along that journey the game has gone through many changes, has had new maps and heroes and countless game modes for special events. Currently the anniversary event is under way and what better time to look back at some of the best Overwatch female characters. With a diverse range of characters to play from all over the world and filling roles all throughout the teams. There is a huge amount of choice to play.
Tracer
Tracer has been the face of Overwatch since the game first surfaced. She is an ultimate glass cannon with her devastating duel Pulse Pistols Tracer is able to perform the infamous ‘one-clip’ to many characters she gets up close to. Hitting all her shots in the magazines and pretty much deletes lower health targets. However, with her power comes a small health pool and if you’re not careful you can quickly find yourself respawning. Her speciality is harassing the healers and picking off any lower health enemies.
Zarya
Zarya currently fills the role of being an off-tank and one of the more interesting damage dealers. With her particle barrier and projected barriers she can charge up the huge particle cannon. When she has a high charge and you start hearing that beast of a weapon humming like an angry bumble bee you know you’re in for a kicking. Zarya is an excellent hero to learn and master.
Mei
Probably one of the most annoying heroes to go up against, especially one-on-one. With her ability to freeze you in place before waving at you and sending an icicle through your eye, Mei certainly can make you rage. However, her ability to self heal and place ice walls that can leave your enemies high and dry makes her a fantastic hero for creating space and stalling objective points.
Ana
Ana has an excellent kit of abilities to learn and she is so much fun to play. Sniping targets both on your team and your enemies from a medium range and sneaky off angles is both her biggest strength and weakness. Given the space she can control the game with her biotic-grenade, sleep-darts and biotic rifle. But if she gets singled out too much her lack of mobility makes her vulnerable. Ana’s ultimate ability, the nano boost can quite literally be a game winning ultimate.
Sombra
Hacker Sombra is the perfect choice for those who want to sneak around and set up combos. Sneaking into the backlines and hacking healers to leave them exposed to attack is her bread and butter. With her translocator and stealth she can easily get around maps undetected. Comboing her EMP ultimate, which disables most other characters abilities, with others on your team might take some good timing and communication, but when you get it right the 6-man-wipe isn’t always far behind.
There is no doubt that all of the other female Overwatch characters are excellent. With each one having a place in many team line ups with a role to play. But, the ones listed above are maybe just a little more interesting and versatile than others.
