Every announcement from The Game Awards 2021

The Game Awards is a yearly event that showcases the best that gaming has to offer. Geoff Keighley and friends put on a showcase that recognises the absolute cream of the crop, but it’s not just about giving awards. Oh no, the Game Awards has become one of the best places to see new trailers and get the latest game announcements, and The Game Awards 2021 was no different.

Get up to speed with all the announcements from The Game Awards 2021 right here. Let’s go!

Tunic

It’s been a long time coming but we finally got a release date for this colourful action adventure game. It’ll be hitting us on 16th March 2022.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The team behind the Friday the 13th game is bringing Leatherface to the party, so be prepared to run, run, and run again from this relentless killer.

Homeworld 3

In one of the most gorgeous trailers of the evening, we got a first look at Homeworld 3. This long-awaited sequel in the incredible space strategy series will be coming late in 2022.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series

One of the big surprises of the evening was the news that Telltale’s successor company is making a game based on The Expanse. With the author of the novels involved, this will be one to watch for fans of the books and the TV series.

Babylons’ Fall

We got to see a little more of the next game from PlatinumGames showing off some of the brutal sword action that we’ll get to enjoy on 3rd March 2022.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

Sunbreak’s coming to Monster Hunter Rise, adding new monsters, new Master Rank hunts, and more. This gameplay trailer showed off one of the new monsters and gave us a brief look at the new region too.

Thirsty Suitors

Annapurna’s latest game smashes together combat and skateboarding in what looks to be an utterly inventive, narratively exciting game that we can’t wait to get our hands on.

Evil West

Shadow Warrior’s developers are back with Evil West, a wild west shooter with a twist. Filled with devilish monsters, this promises to be something very exciting indeed.

Have a Nice Death

This 2D action rogue-lite sees you take on the role of Death itself, running your own company called Death Incorporated as you seek to regain control of the company, as well as take a holiday.

Planet of Lana

This beautiful robot-focused game will be coming out in 2022, and if its stunning visual style wasn’t enough to win you over then the involvement of The Last Guardian’s composer Takeshi Furukawa is sure to make you excited.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax

This fighting game spinoff from Persona 4 will be coming to PS4, PC and Switch on 10th March 2022, ten years after its original release – and it’s still packing tonnes of style.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II

Hellblade II is looking simply gorgeous and this gameplay trailer shows that this sequel looks to improve upon everything that made the original Hellblade one of the most inventive games we’ve ever played.

Star Wars: Eclipse

We’ve known that Quantic Dream were working on a Star Wars game and now we’ve been able to take a look at a cinematic trailer for it. With a unique setting in the Star Wars universe, this looks to have a feel completely different to any other Star Wars game that’s gone before.

Lost Ark

This free to play MMO smashed us with a release date of the 11th February 2022, and showed off some of the gameplay changes the developers have implemented after receiving player feedback.

Wonder Woman

Diana’s getting her own game! Created by the team behind Shadow of Mordor and FEAR, Wonder Woman may be the next big superhero game to get excited about.

Alan Wake 2

We got a hint of Alan in DLC for Control but this surprise announcement gave Alan Wake fans everything they need, from confirmation that the story will continue and a release date of Summer 2022 which isn’t that far out.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Sonic and Dr. Robotnik are back and this time Tails and Knuckles are along for the ride. No-one expected the original film to be as good as it was so hopes are high for the sequel, coming to cinemas on 8th April 2022.

Horizon Forbidden West

We got to see a bit more of how Horizon Forbidden West plays, focusing on some of the new threats Aloy will be facing in her journey to uncover hidden truths.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade

The remake of FF7 is coming to PC on the 16th December, including the Intergrade add-on. Excellent news for Final Fantasy fans who missed out on the console release.

Destiny 2: Witch Queen

With the release date of 22nd February 2022 coming fast, Bungie showed off a bit more of the next year of Destiny 2 with this gameplay trailer.

Slitterhead

Coming from Keiichiro Toyama, the director of Silent Hill, this upcoming horror game looks to take us to a new level of fear. If you don’t like alien parasites, look away now!

Nightingale

This survival game focusing on crafting comes from former BioWare boss Aaryn Flynn, seeing you team up with friends to fight for your lives in a strange, evocative world.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

Smeagol’s back in his very own game. This trailer shows off a little of our favourite naughty hobbit dealing with orcs, in his own inimitable way.

Somerville

Alas nothing to do with Bronski Beat, Somerville is an action-adventure game in a sci-fi universe coming from the creators of Limbo and Inside.

Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course

The final DLC for Cuphead has a release date of June the 30th, 2022, and will bring more devious bullet-hell platformer action to pretty much every platform out there.

Sonic Frontiers

In late 2022 we’ll get to play the next Sonic game which appears to take inspiration from Breath of the Wild in a surprising twist on the action. This open world game looks set to possibly be a breath of fresh air for the long-running franchise.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2

A brand new hero is coming to Warhammer: Vermintide 2, the Warrior Priest. Armed with a mighty hammer and the power of prayer, those rats will have a lot to worry about.

Tchia

A delightful open-world adventure sees you explore a beautiful world, taking in the sights and sounds as you observe wondrous creatures in the wild.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

This gameplay trailer showed off some smooth moves from the team of misfits, showcasing Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn, Deathstroke, and of course everyone’s favourite fishman – King Shark.

Forspoken

We got to see one of the boss fights from Forspoken, seeing Frey use all the magic they can get their hands on in order to survive.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

Apologies for dropping the professionalism for a moment but AAAAAAAAH! This sequel to under-rated action game Space Marine from 2011 takes the action to the Tyranids and looks to be as smashing as the original.

Saints Row

If you feared that the new Saints Row was going to drop the over-the-topness that made the originals so unique, then fear not. This explosion-filled trailer should put those fears to rest.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

Hitting the game just before Christmas, you’ll get the chance to play as Jack Skellington, Sally, or the Mayor of Halloweentown in a Nightmare Before Christmas themed update for the game.

Dune Spice Wars

Thanks to Dune 2, RTS and Dune are words intertwined with each other. This new RTS will see you harness desert power in Early Access sometime in 2022.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

This new installment in the Borderlands universe got a new trailer, this time focusing on the story and showing exactly what happens when you dare to question Tiny Tina.

Among Us VR

That’s right, now you get to be a crewmate in first person as you work out who the killer is – or if you’re sus yourself.

DokeV

It’s proving to be impossible to define DokeV so simply sit back and enjoy this K-pop inspired music video featuring the game’s characters.

Steelrising

Head back to revolution-era Paris in this clockwork filled alternate reality. This cinematic trailer is truly stunning, and we can’t wait to play Steelrising when it releases in June 2022.

Metal: Hellsinger

Metal lovers get ready as this FPS metal game is coming. This trailer showed off the full roster of metal music icons included in the game, so grab your guitar and prepare for the action.

Star Trek: Resurgence

It’s been a while since we’ve had a Star Trek game so it’s exciting to see we’re getting a new one from former Telltale developers. Set after the end of TNG, this focuses on stopping war before it breaks out – very Star Trek indeed.

Rumbleverse

From Iron Galaxy comes Rumbleverse, a 40 player melee battle royale. You’ll be able to dive into it on February the 8th, 2022.

A Plague Tale: Requiem

If you want more rats then get ready for A Plague Tale: Requiem. This sequel to the plague-filled Innocence seems to take the series in an even darker direction, which barely seems possible.

Dying Light 2

This cinematic trailer showed off a lot more of Dying Light 2, the long-awaited sequel to the surprise zombie smash hit. Coming in February 2022, Dying Light 2 will give you all the parkour action you could ever desire.

CrossfireX

This brand new FPS received an intense trailer giving us a look at the action we’ll be able to immerse ourselves in when it releases on 10th February 2022.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt

During The Game Awards 2021 we got to see a little more of this Vampire: The Masquerade-themed battle royale which we now know will be hitting us in Spring, 2022.

GTFO

GTFO left Early Access and hit version 1.0, so grab your friends and see if you can take on the ultimate challenge. You can buy it right here!

Halo: The Series

We got our first look at the TV series set in the Halo universe, showing us a hint of John-117’s armour as well as a tonne of new faces.

Elden Ring

Bandai Namco showed off more of Elden Ring last night, this time focusing on the game’s story. With mystery and threat in spades, Elden Ring certainly looks to be a worthy successor to the Dark Souls series.

SYNCED: Off-Planet

This trailer introduced us to the Nanos, our companions in this beautiful shooter. Each one brings a unique power to the battle, from scouting to devastation.

Arc Raiders

This free-to-play co-op shooter comes from developers who worked on both Battlefield and Star Wars: Battlefront. Check out the gameplay trailer above set to the chill beat from Robyn.

The Matrix Awakens

Finally, we got to see a bit of The Matrix Resurrection and also got a little look at the Unreal Engine 5 experience titled The Matrix Awakens. If that’s not all, you can dive into this experience right now on Xbox Series S/X and PS5.
